October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It’s an annual drive to spread awareness for cancer survivors and people battling cancer, all over the world. Our school, Ruth K. As November 8th is Election Day, we did a middle school wide poll for who they believe would be the best president. We con-ducted an anonymous poll and created a graph based off the results. Given the results, Hillary Clinton got the greater amount of votes in all of the grades surveyed. The Journalism Team would like to encourage all Bobcats to get their parents to vote.

Words of Wisdom

“Don’t let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself” - Mrs. A. Chipy

All of the 5th grade classes got to watch a Water Ven-

ture presentation. Plus, the 5th graders go inside the

Water Venture Truck! The Water Venture Truck is a

truck used to show and ex-plain the water cycle and much more such as read,

listen to the workers, and play the games. As the stu-

dents walked in the bus, they were surprised and amazed

at what they saw. Inside of the Water Venture Truck

were many games and learn-ing materials for the kids.

Some of the students said that learning all the infor-

mation was very fun and entertaining. One of the

games in the truck helped children learn how much

water they waste every day and how to reduce the amount of waste. We were

able to interview Ms. Cala-bresi to see a teacher’s point

of view on the presentation. She thought that this was a

very good learning oppor-tunity for the students and

that teaching the students about the water cycle was

easier. Ms. Calabresi also said

that the hands on experiments and games was a great way of

learning the information.

Thanks to Ms. Cendoya, the

5th grade classes were able to watch this presentation.

Movie Reviews

Hi I’m Isaac and I have been collecting submissions for our write-in column. In this col-umn bobcats can send in a story based off a certain topic and may be put into our news-paper. This month we have a story written by a 4th grader in Mr. Balzano’s class. This is a story about three girls who think they aren’t scared of Halloween: Anna, Lily, and Crystal. They think they’re going to have a good time, but it’ll be quite the opposite when we’re done with them! Muahahahaha! “Hi. I’m An-na. This year I was a morbid zombie girl for Halloween. At the Halloween festival, I went on the “Halloween Water

other chance and see if it changes. On the other hand, if you tell your friend your feel-ings and he/she laughs at you, says that they don’t care or don’t care about how you feel then you should keep distance from that person, because they won’t add anything to your life. When there are tests, I usually get too stressed, what should I do? You should, first of all, study. When you are in class, you should ask your teachers questions on everything you are having trouble with. Start

studying three days prior to the test, so if you have any emer-gency before the test, you al-ready studied. One day before the test, try to get a good night sleep, so energized and the next day you will be prepared to take it. In the time you are doing the test, try to stay calm and just do your best, and if you need help, try staying after school to ask your teacher.

Dear Emilie, Welcome to Dear Emilie. This is the first month of answering your questions. We would like to thank eve-ryone for sending in ques-tions and would encourage you to send in more to room 265. One of my friends start-ed to bully me, should I still be friends with him/her? Ride of Horrors”. It wasn’t that scary… until the ride sep-arated! Everyone went in dif-ferent directions, and I saw all my worst nightmares, so much that it was like the ride was made for me! I screamed until it was over, and I’ve decided to never go back again.” “Hi, my name is Lily. This year for Halloween I was a unicorn princess. I went to the hallow-een festival to get some cotton candy, but I stayed to go on the water ride. It was a little scary, but then the ride sepa-rated and I saw snakes and spiders. So scary!” “I’m Crys-tal. I’m a vampire for Hallow-een. I went to some ride, I forgot what it was called, and

then the boat we were on separated or something and we all went in different direc-tions and it ended, Not scary at all, in my opinion. So that’s the story of the three girls. Yes, all were scared… except Crystal. Muahahaha!

Middle School: The Worst Years

of My Life: was the worst mov-ie of our lives. While watching it, we had lots of fun laughing at the bad acting, garbage plot, horrible pacing, and so many changes you’d wonder what connects it to its original book. So to start, let’s look at the character development. It’s bad. The main character is rad and edgy, says to not be rad and edgy, and then continues being rad and edgy. The evil stepdad that’s never been done before in movies (sarcasm) is loved by the mom, despite his obvious and extreme hatred for both of her children, and then isn’t loved for no reason. The humor is so badly trying to be “hip” that it’s appalling that it was written by anyone under 35. From a “hip” teacher that uses Drake’s mixtapes to discuss N.A.T.O. to a scene where the “geek” girl that’s also never been done before in movies (also sarcasm) has to explain to the “hip” artist main character what VHS is, and how “vintage” it is, you’ll be rolling on the floor going in-sane from every bad joke.. The only good part of this movie is the two animated segments. They come out of left field, and last about a minute each, leaving you wishing for an entire movie like that. For that, we give this movie 0 stars, because despite being a kids flick, it still needs to be enjoy-able. In our opinion, just read the book instead.
