We wanted to share some recent stories, one is from a principal, two are from empowered students, one is from a teacher and another involves multiple classes at a school.

School Starts RecyclingWe have been honored to kickoff a host of schools recycling efforts. One recent email from a school principal in Simi Valley was touching because the entire school thought that their school wasn’t able to recycle due to the district not providing them a mixed recycling bin. We are not sure how that false fact became reality but we were able to change it after our show.

Email From Principal “Thank you for the feedback and confirming what can go in the recycling bin here. Our recycling program is just getting started. There is a group of third grade students who came together (due in part to your assembly and Earth Day lessons taught by their teacher) that have started a club called the Green Team. They have a website started already and have met a couple of times to plan their next steps. I love their enthusiasm!

Their goal is to recycle the bottles and cans ourselves to get money to support Green Team efforts, which includes purchasing recycling bins for every classroom. Have a great day!

A story from Mr. Eco.. A couple weeks after meeting Nico, I performed at another repeat school. This time when Ms. Eco emphatically tapped me on the shoulder, standing there was a fourth grade TEACHER donning a homemade EcoHero costume. He too started showing music videos in class and unknown to me at the time, was an EcoHero for Halloween the year prior and was the hit of the school. I invited him on stage during the assembly to dance and we played basketball with students at recess after the show. I will never forget those moments and I’m sure the students at the school will not either.

A story from Mr. Eco.. After setting up my sound equipment at schools, I head back to the main office to use a teacher’s restroom to change into my costume. When I walked back into the auditorium at Rogers Elementary, I could not believe my eyes. It was my third time performing at the school and for this show, almost every lower grade class at the school made EcoHero capes and headbands from newspapers.

EcoHero Arts And Crafts

Dear Mr. Eco and Mrs. Eco,

My son, Nico Chesler, is a 1st grader at El Rincon Elementary in Culver City. You may remember him as the child who came to watch your school performance in his full Eco Hero uniform! He really admires your persona and music - meeting you this week was a highlight of his young life.

He implemented an “Eco Challenge” in his first grade classroom to clean up trash and separate it from recycling at the school.

Thanks for the great work that you do, and for spreading the sorely needed message to protect our fragile planet and all the creatures who live on it.

Kind regards,

Eleanor Lipat-Chesler

Story from Mr. Eco.. While waiting for the students to shuffle in before the show Ms. Eco emphatically started tapping me on the shoulder telling me to turn around. When I did, I spotted a 1st grader named Nico and couldn’t believe he was in a full homemade EcoHero costume. I asked him how this happened and he explained that he missed the show last year (I performed at same school two years in a row) but that his teacher started playing my music videos from YouTube in class after the show. He started watching them on YouTube and joined the “EcoHero Club” which students can do from my website. He downloaded all of my music and his mom helped him make the costume. Here is the email from his mom.

Recent School Testimonials“We absolutely love this show and hope that City of Antioch continues to sponsor this awesome assembly. Our students love it and are completely engaged. Hope to see Mr. Eco again next year!! Thank you so much City of Antioch and Mr. Eco, we love this show at Marsh Elementary and can’t wait for the next one. What a treat for our students and staff!!”2/23/2018: Lisa Perry, Administrative Asst., Marsh Elementary School********************************************************************“It was wonderful and the children loved it. They immediately started picking up things at recess afterward. Thanks for the lively interaction. This was a wonderful, interactive, positive, message about taking care of our planet. It was very current and relatable to our young students.”2/19/2018: Monte Gregg, Principal, Mission Elementary School.********************************************************************“The content was presented in a very creative, engaging, fun, age appropriate manner. Our students, teachers, and staff enjoyed every minute of this fun and interactive assembly. Thank you for bringing it to our school, it aligned perfectly with Earth Day.”4/23/2018: Diana Rojas, Principal, Charles H. Lee Elementary********************************************************************“Today, our class went to see an assembly in the cafeteria. The assembly was about helping the planet by throwing away trash, and recycling. There were three people who helped lead the assembly. Those people were Mr. and Mrs. Eco, and a man that calls himself “Dance Machine.” Mr. Eco said that he has been encouraging others to recycle and not to leave trash on the ground, and in other places for 5 years. Mrs. Eco helped with the music. Mr. Eco was helping us remember and understand these problems and solutions by playing these catchy songs he made himself. Mr. Eco claims to be a rapper. The three showed us dance moves that came with the song, and even called the teachers to demonstrate them to us! I thought that this assembly was entertaining, yet it taught us a problem that we knew, but didn’t stop to think about it that much. Mr. Eco explained to us that we are the youngest generation, and it is up to us to help the earth. This assembly was great, and I hope that the people and students who hear this assembly next will think so too!”4/26/2018: Gabee, Charles H. Lee Elementary, Student********************************************************************“Actually, it was so good -- just the right length, with the right amount of serious information and tons of fun! The kids are still talking about it, and the timing was great so close to Earth Day. It was so fun to have Mr. Eco and Dance Machine stay around for a while and hang out with the kids at recess and talk to them. Many of the students were really impacted by the pictures of the animals being harmed and I think that’s incredibly important, so please make sure to keep that in the show.” 4/26/2018: Laura Flanders, Charles H. Lee Elementary, Azusa. 5th Grade Teacher“The energy and message was spot-on for the audience. Thank you Culver City for bringing the EcoHero Show to La Ballona Elementary! The students loved the performance!”4/23/2018: Annie Jacquelin, PTA Assemblies Chair, La Ballona Elementary********************************************************************“Mr. Eco puts on the best show! It’s entertaining, interactive and fun! What a great way to get kids excited about saving our earth. I hope we can have Mr. Eco every year!”3/2/2018: Regina Myvett, PTA/Librarian, George Washington Elementary********************************************************************“I love the inclusion of question and answer portions, and anything to include the kids so they are engaged, in addition to the singing and dancing. Nothing else needs to be improved! The Mr. Eco assembly is VERY engaging for my students! I was surprised that so many of them were subscribed or already watching Mr. Eco videos on YouTube,

because of the impact it had on them when we had the assembly last year. Awesome show!3/2/2018: Marian Piansay, George Washington, 3rd Grade********************************************************************My students really enjoyed the show. Several kept singing the songs. One said they especially liked the Super Hero Eco Hero song. I like how you’ve added and changed the show from last year. Just keep doing what you are doing. Very engaging and entertaining.3/2/2018: Heidi Burnham, JFK, 5th grade********************************************************************“Thank you for sponsoring the Mr. Eco assembly. It was very informational and enjoyable. Mr. Eco shared lots of important information through music, pictures, and videos. The videos included many children, and I think this makes the show relatable to our school children. Mr. Eco included many staff members and students in the show. Much of the assembly had the audience up dancing and singing about saving our natural resources. Everyone was involved, and learning!!! Thank you so much for bringing Mr. Eco to George Washington School. We look forward to learning from him next year!!!”3/3/2018: Patti Hazelhofer, George Washington, Kindergarten********************************************************************“Simply an amazing show for the second year in a row! The EcoHero was loved last year and so we brought him back. Standing next to him and watching the students light up with excitement when they came in the room was wonderful. They remembered the show, the message and were excited to hear it again.”3/5/2018: Matt Harris, Principal, John F. Kennedy Elementary********************************************************************“The ecohero was an an unforgettable learning experience for all of our students. “Great energy and connection with the students. The EcoHero show opened our students eyes up to the fact that their small decisions they make every day about recycling, littering and using single use plastic bags have an effect on the world around us.”1/29/2018: Gavin Gladding, Guidance Instructional Specialist, Fort Washington Elementary School********************************************************************“This was an awesome and worthy event for our students. My student came back to our classroom and wrote a summary about the event. Today, some of them presented their summary and those students were able to identify the main idea of the event... to stop the use of plastic bags and to recycle the plastic items that we all use. My students were very, very adamant about the worldwide issue of littering which hurts our environment. This can definitely be applied for the littering issue that we have at Calwa. This assembly is worth having again!”1/29/2018: Mr. Lemus, 6th Grade Teacher, Calwa Elementary School********************************************************************“please, come back thank you for your presentation. the students love it and so did the staff. they took ownership and commitment to the cause.”1/28/2018: Yvette Fagundes, Vice Principal, Lane Elementary********************************************************************“The pace was appropriate for our students. Heaton students engaged in songs, dances and important messaging around recycling and taking care of our planet.”5/1/2018: Laura Gemetti, Principal, Heaton Elementary********************************************************************“Our students had a wonderful time! I was most excited to see our 6th grade students get involved. Great Job! A lot of fun with an important message.”2/19/2018: Alison Calhoun, Assistant Principal, River Oaks Elementary School********************************************************************“Eco Gabe was amazing and the kids loved it. We have had Assemblies before that were designed to be audience participatory and our older grades resisted; not this time! They ALL got very engaged. We coupled the EcoHero Show with another initiative we are doing to reduce single use plastic at our school, and having this show engage the kids really helped motivate their actions in our plastic reduction program!”4/23/2018: Judy Reilly, Benjamin Franklin Elementary, PTA President********************************************************************“Great comments from teachers! Kids loved it and APPLIED their learning.”4/16/2018: Stephanie Poindexter, Principa,l Eucalyptus Environmental Sciences Academy********************************************************************“We have had a recycling club for years and students have been aware of plastic waste! However, they were very engaged in the assembly and learned new information in a fun and exciting way! Many students were helping to clean up the trash on the yard after the assembly!”4/30/2018: Kathy Goodlad, Principal, Kerman-Floyd Elementary School********************************************************************“Loved your student management strategies! Mr.Eco’s show was a perfect addition to our school’s writing curriculum. We are discussing world problems and how we can help solve them. Loved how he turned the eco message into song. Super educational and fun!”4/26/2018: Mrs. Romine, Stephens School, Kindergarten********************************************************************“The students in my class sang your songs all day long! They loved the performance!Having Mr. and Miss Eco come to our school was the best assembly we’ve had all year! The kids loved the songs and the teachers loved that

the song topics correlate with our current unit in Lucy Calkins writing which is about writing opinions focused on world problems. Watching the music videos for a couple of days prior to the assembly really helped prepare my kindergarten students for the topics Mr. Eco would be addressing.”4/26/2018: Amy Poulsen, Stephens School, kindergarten********************************************************************“My Kindergarten students were able to write about what they could do to be an Eco Hero and had several reasons that were talked about at the show.
