Environmental Impact

Taking for granted unlimited Canadian water supply (20% world’s supply)

Canada only receives 7% of renewable water and >50% flows North

Canadian is the 2nd biggest water user and 2X vs Europeans, Americans 1st

Threats to water security are mounting – global warming, water exports, invasive species, wastage and over-consuming lifestyles

Between 1972 -1996 water usage up90% vs population growth up33%

Water we use are treated to costly ‘drinking water’ standards, high level of water use = expensive supply, disposal infrastructure expansions and harmful ecological impacts

Toronto Wastewater break 4 Wastewater Treatment Plants

2010 Annual Operational Expense Ashbridge Bay – CAD52.8MM Highland Creek – CAD14.7MM Humber – CAD13.5MM North Toronto – CAD1.5MM

Why treat Wastewater – Toronto’s highly concentrated urban population contributes too much organic and inorganic material and bacteria-causing bacteria to existing natural system (land and lakes)

Treatment is an essential process that prevents contamination and the destruction of our waterways, drinking and natural water resources

Page 8: Ecoblue power point presentation

How it works

Small dissolvable cube containing natural beneficial bacteria

When placed it activates and migrates throughout the urinal forming a bio-film that lines the bowl, trap and pipes.

Urine is 98% water, Ecoblue dissolves the odour causing bacteria

Damp surfaces breed pathogens

Putrid scale build-up causes offensive odour and block drains

Toronto water quality is medium to hard with plenty of minerals

Also uses a Pro-biotic Cleaning solution thus eliminates chemical solution

• Slashes water usage by 98%

• Energy needed to pump water into the building

• Eliminates sanitizers, fresheners and urinal pucks that clog pipes

• Eliminates flushometer maintenance and parts requirement

• Eliminates batteries for sensor-operated flushing urinals

• Minimal maintenance

• But above all saves WATER – the most precious resource

Standard water urinals Costs

Assumptions on 1 water urinal with a 3.8 liter per flush consumption

Assume 100 flushes / urinal / day

Assume 300 days Mall operations

With 22 automatic water flushing urinals at Ground level

Water cost / cubic meter = CAD 2.17 Sewer cost = 1.32 x Water Cost / cubic

meter Maintenance battery = 2X a month

battery replacement/urinal/month Battery cost = CAD 10.00 /

replacement/urinal/month X 22 = CAD 220.00

Water urinals usage assumptions

Page 21: Ecoblue power point presentation

Standard water urinals Costs

1 Consumed water in liters/day = 1 X 100 X 3.8 = 380 liters daily

2 Consumed water in liters/ year = 380 x 300 = 114,000 liters yearly

3 Consumed water in liters with 22 urinals = 2,508,000 ltrs yearly

4 Consumed water in cubic meters = 2,508,000/1,000 = 2,508 cubic meters

5 Water cost per year = 2,508 x CAD 2.17 = CAD 5,442.36

6 Sewer cost per year = 1.32 x CAD 5,442.36 = CAD 7,183.92

7 Maintenance battery = CAD 220.008 Cost per year = CAD 12,846.289 Add cost of Drip Sanitizers = CAD 360.00

10Total Cost of Water Urinals = CAD 13,206.28

Water urinals costing

Ecoblue Costs

Assumptions and Data

Assume 100 flushes / urinal / day

1 Ecoblue cube last about 1400 to 1500 flushes depending on traffic

300 days Mall operations

Ecoblue kit = CAD 302.00

Ecoblue cube box of 25 pc’s = CAD 250.00 or CAD 10.00 per cube

Ecoblue usage

Page 23: Ecoblue power point presentation

Ecoblue Costs1 Calculations

1 Number of flushes / year / urinal = 1 x 100 x 300 = 30,000 flushes

1 Number of cubes used / year / urinal = 30,000 / 1,500 = 20 cubes

2 Assume 22 urinals =22 x 20 cubes = 440 cubes

3 Cost of cube application = 440 cubes x CAD 10.00 = CAD 4,400.00

4 Cost of Booster = 15 x CAD 32.00 = CAD 480.00

1 Total Cost of complete Ecoblue application = CAD 4,880.00

Ecoblue costing

Page 24: Ecoblue power point presentation

Ecoblue Savings and Benefits

Conservative NET Savings Calculation

Total Cost of Water Urinals = CAD 13,206.28

Total Cost of complete Ecoblue application = CAD 4,880.00

NET Savings = CAD 13,206.28 – CAD 4,880.00 = CAD 8,326.28

And TOTAL WATER SAVED = 2,508,000 litersEcoblue Savings

Page 25: Ecoblue power point presentation

Ecoblue Savings and Benefits
