The Fruit of the Spirit is … GENTLENESS

Matthew 11:25-30 “Rest For The Weary”

25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”Matthew 11:25-30

Jesus spoke and praised God for telling all people the truth about Him. Jesus said that the people would learn about Him the same way that little children learn and trust. This includes children like you!

God sent His Son, Jesus for you and me. We should be excited that Jesus loves us and comforts us when we are hurt or sad.

Jesus taught that all people who are sad should pray to Him. We should trust Him to be there for us when we are hurt, or someone has been mean to us. He cares about us. He made us and loves us. Jesus said when we are tired, we should take our troubles to Him. Jesus is gentle. His gentleness will fill us with a peace that we need.

Activity

Gather a baking sheet tray, cotton balls and some small pebbles or rocks. Offer your child the chance to drop first the pebbles on the tray and then the cotton balls. Talk about the difference in harsh (the sound and feeling of the rocks on the tray) and gentle (the sound and feeling of the cotton balls on the tray.) Our words and actions can be either harsh or gentle. Work as a family to use gentle words and actions to show each other God's love this week!

El Fruto del Espíritu es ... HUMILDAD
