What is e-waste?
Also known as e-waste, discarded computer equipment comprises monitors, printers, hard drives and circuit boards. Such items should on no account be thrown out with your household rubbish because they contain toxic substances, and are effectively hazardous waste.
Heaps of e-waste in our school
They were getting bigger and bigger
So our school community decided to get rid of it
Why?
My PC contains: Plastic 23%
Ferrous metals 32%Non-ferrous metals 18%Electronic boards 12%Glass 15%
What types of computer parts can be recycled?• Glass monitor• Keyboard
• CD Rom drive• Plastic case
• Cathode ray tube (CRT)• Cables
• Copper in power cord• Metal from circuit board• Printer cartridges
