WHERE YOU LIVE MATTERS

WHETHER YOU HAVE LIVED SOMEWHERE FOR YEARS OR JUST MOVED – YOU LIVE SOMEWHERE AND IT MATTERS!

We’ve put together this guide to give you resources to help you serve and get connected in your parish so that you can love your neighbor in all the places God has called you to live, work and play. The foundation of our families and cities begins with prayer. And we are praying that God will use you in a mighty way to bring the power of the redemptive gospel to the hurting world right where you are.

PARISH INFORMATION

SHEPHERDING TEAMS

Perimeter is great place to Worship, Belong, Grow and Bless. But it can also feel like a BIG church, which may be a bit overwhelming. Since our desire is for everyone to feel at home and to feel cared for we have established shepherding teams for each parish.

A parish shepherding team is made up of elders and deacons who live in the parish. Their role is to connect with and care for the people and families in their area. Each Perimeter member is assigned a specific shepherd from that team. You can learn more about parishes and how to connect with your shepherd by visiting perimeter.org/parish.

GETTING CONNECTED IN YOUR PARISH

If you are looking for a way to meet people in your parish, consider joining a Connect group. Connect groups are fun, relaxed, and comfortable “off campus” Christ-centered environments for you to build relationships with your friends and neighbors. To learn more about the many ways to get connected at Perimeter, visit perimeter.org/connect.

SERVING IN YOUR PARISH

Do you have a heart for service but are unsure where to begin? Perimeter’s Community Outreach department has built relationships with many non-profits in each parish. This is a great place to start when exploring where God might call you to serve. Serving opportunities are routinely published at perimeter.org/servenow. Or you can pick up a serving guide or flyer in the main lobbies of the church throughout the year. If you still have questions or would like to brainstorm some ways to serve, you can also call our Community Outreach office and speak to Jackie Dieter at 678-405-2122 or [email protected].

FIND A PLACE TO SERVEJoin with Perimeter’s non-profit partners as they seek to serve our cities and neighbors. We are blessed to have partners with whom we can co-labor to do the great work that God has called us to do. When we share our time, skills or resources out of gratitude for God’s great love for us, it spreads the redemptive, transformative power of the gospel to those that God has placed in our lives.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

KEY SOCIAL ISSUES OF EACH PARISH

What is the status of your heart for your city? Do you passionately love the place you live and its people? Are you deeply grieved when you survey the idols and hurts of your city?

Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was being provoked within him as he was observing the city full of idols. Acts 17:16

What do you think of when you see the major social struggles facing your city? Sometimes we want to retreat from these issues. But, the Bible invites us to engage, contribute and be a part of the redemption story of our city. (Jeremiah 29) We know that God’s kingdom will come in its fullness only by God’s action. But, with Christ’s help, we want to do our part to make this Earth more like that kingdom.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPPING RESOURCESPRAYER In order for us to love our families, neighbors and cities, we must first draw on the strength and power of the Holy Spirit. As we draw close to God, He will fill us with His peace, joy and assurance. The foundation of our families and cities begins with prayer. For resources on how to pray for your city, visit perimeter.org/coresources.

XPRESS YOUR FAITHXPRESS Your Faith is a method for effectively sharing your faith developed by Randy Pope, lead teaching pastor of Perimeter Church. You will learn the tools of sharing the Gospel with friends and family in a non-threatening and effective way. Participants find it easy to learn and apply to everyday situations. For more information visit perimeter.org/xpress

DISCOVER UThe Bible says that you are a masterpiece of God, uniquely and wonderfully made, and that He has given each of us spiritual gifts, abilities, talents, and experiences woven together for a greater purpose and role as His children in this world.

If you are interested in discovering what this might look like in your life and family, take a Discover U class. This two week class will be insightful, interactive, and will include an overview of spiritual gifts, and an introduction to developing a life plan. For more information visit perimeter.org/discoveru.

VISIT PERIMETER.ORG/SERVENOW for serving opportunities throughout the year.
