our Global Café season
off with an in-depth
look at travelling and
studying in the UK:
“Many students ask me
about my time studying
in the UK, and tell me
about their dreams of
studying abroad. The
Global Café gave me
the opportunity to re-
late my experiences,
while also providing
ideas for those thinking

The Rise of the Robots!!!
Analysts in the USA recently predicted that in 20 years time more than 47% of jobs currently
performed by humans could be performed by robots instead. After all, we now have robots who
can work in hospitals to take care of elderly people, robots that can serve us at supermarket
checkouts, and robots that can help to keep our houses clean!
So, where will the robot revolution end, and what will become of human workers? Perhaps, if
everybody shares in the ownership of robots, we can all have more time for leisure activities and
artistic interests while robots earn us money. However, if the ownership of robots ends up in the
hands of just a small number of individuals, they will become rich whilst the rest of us suffer.
For decades, Japanese companies, univer-
sities and individuals have been working
hard to develop machines capable of do-
ing the work of people. For example, we
are all familiar with the robots used to
manufacture cars and perform other man-
ual labour tasks.
However, now it seems that robot tech-
nology is going to break into more sec-
tors of the economy than ever before.

Japan’s technological success may have unexpected consequences!
to reach its target, but when
it did, the resulting pictures
were astounding.
As you can see to the left,
Pluto has a soft beige-brown
look, and is adorned with an
adorable love-heart. This
heart is called the Tom-
baugh Regio, named after
the discoverer of Pluto Clyde
Tombaugh.
We are so glad that Pluto
has finally shown its beauti-
ful face to us!
Now, it is with great joy that
I can report Pluto has finally
been explored by man!
The reason it has taken until
2015 to reach Pluto is be-
cause this dwarf planet is so
very far away: more than 4.5
billion kilometers from Earth.
In 2006, NASA in the USA
pledged they would visit
Pluto with their spacecraft,
and launched the New Hori-
zons probe. This probe took
more than 9 and a half years

New Horizons expands the portrait of our solar family!
Our Solar System is a fascinating
place, full of beautiful, strange and
varied planets, moons and aster-
oids. Over the last century, hu-
mans have sent rockets, probes,
satellites and landers to almost
every corner of our Solar System,
beaming back incredible images of
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Sat-
urn, Uranus, Neptune, and many
smaller moons and asteroids.
However, one place has been
missing from this list, the smallest
planet, the dwarf planet Pluto...

San Francisco in California, USA, is one of the world’s most interesting travel destina-tions. Sprawling over the hills and valleys of the bay, and staring out over the mighty
Pacific Ocean, San Francisco has long been known as the “Golden gate to America”.
Indeed, San Francisco has welcomed generation after generation of immigrants to the
United States, and each group that has entered the city has contributed their own
unique charm to this diverse city. Below we introduce several of the unique communities
that make San Francisco such a vibrant place.
Luxury Trip! Let’s visit San Francisco!
Silicon Valley China Town Pier 39 Gay Pride
Silicon Valley is right
at the heart of Ameri-
ca’s tech boom, and is home to tech gi-
ants such as Google,
Apple and Facebook.
If it’s hot in tech, it was probably invent-
ed here!

Millions of people from
China have immigrated
into the USA through
the port of San Francis-
co, and many of those
stayed to create China
town! Try authentic
Chinese delicacies, they
are a real treat!
Pier 39 is home to the
world famous
“Fisherman’s Wharf”. Try out some great lo-
cal seafood, including
fresh shrimp, clam
chowder and Sword-
fish! You can also see
sunbathing sea lions!
San Francisco prides
itself on tolerance and
understanding for all
people, and nowhere is
this spirit clearer than
in its welcoming of gay
and lesbian people

and the World.
Britain’s most famous Super Spy returns to action in the latest Bond movie!

dangerous criminal organization ’Spectre’. Along the way, he meets up with attractive
women and faces off against evil villains.
Bond’s adventure takes him all over the world,

streets of Mexico, to
the picturesque
sights of Rome and
Austria.
This is one of the
best Bond films ever
made, and so you
had better make your
way to your local
movie theatre!
Hitting theatres this
month is the 24th in-
stallment of Britain’s longest running film

ly to be his last out-
ing as the Bond char-
acter.

Strange Animal… THE SLENDER LORIS!
the Slender Loris is a nocturnal animal, which means
they only come out at night.
Like many primates, including humans, the Slender
Loris is omnivorous, living on a diet of insects, liz-
ards, shoots and fruits.
This kind, cute and cuddly creature is
called the Slender Loris! They are
special animals that are native to In-
dia and Sri Lanka, where they are
known as Kaadu Paapa, which means
“Forest baby”.
The Slender Loris is a primate, which
means it is related to monkeys, but
unlike monkeys, the Slender Loris has
no tail!
When you look at the delightful face
of the Slender Loris, the first thing
you may notice is his enormous and
very cute eyes! They need these big
eyes to help them see in the dark, as
So cute and so much fun!!!
