    1.1 Helpful Tips

    Turn off all active programs including anti-virus before you begin.

    DVD neXt COPY can write to any media numerous times during agiven session.

    If you have two DVD drives you can convert from one drive andburn with the other.

    1.2 Limitations

    Some programs may affect the burning cycle.

    When using an external DVD burner, you should limit the number ofadditional external devices connected during the burning process.

    2.0 Installing and Activating Your Software

    Step 1: Click on the link in the download email you received afterpurchase. Then click on Save.

    The first time you access DVD neXt COPY after an install or reinstall, you

    will be required to activate your software online.

    2.2 Activation

    Step 1: Run DVD neXt COPY. Then enter your serial number.

    On a Retail Copy (i.e., purchased from a store like Best Buy, etc) or anyother online reseller, the serial number is located on the inside of the casethe software came in. The serial number is located on a white sticker justbelow the disc.

    On a downloaded copy of software (to include backup CD, box or USBversions) acquired directly from DVD neXt COPY, the license informationis in the confirmation email that was sent to the email address providedduring the purchase cycle.

    You may copy and paste your serial number into the field. If you TYPE in

    your serial number, you must use ALL CAPITALS. Use only the numberzero (0) and not the letter O. Click on Activate.

    4.0 Simple ModeThis is an overview of the simple operations using DVD neXt COPY. Noprior experience making DVD copies is required.

    4.1 Single Layer 1 DVD Drive

    The software default is set to copy the whole DVD movie disc with allspecial features, trailers, etc., to a single layer 4.7GB disc, using onesingle layer DVD burner. You do not need to change the settings in thismode. Insert the movie you wish to copy into the DVD burner. Run DVDneXt COPY by clicking on either the desktop icon or DVDneXtCOPY in theStart menu.

    Step 1: Click on the New button.

    Step 2: The New Project Window will open and automatically default tothe DVD drive with the movie in it. Click on Ok.

    The Main Control Panel will open showing 3 gauges in the dynamicwindow. These gauges show frames per second, the percent of the movie

    converted to your hard drive and the size of the movie. You can alsopreview the movie while it is being converted to your hard drive.

    Step 4: You will hear an audio alert and see this message when theconversion cycle is finished. Remove the DVD movie and insert a blank4.7GB DVD disc, then click on Retry.

    The burning process will start. Progress will be shown by the Total Timeand color of the disc indicator. When the burn is complete, you will hearan audio alert. The disc indicator will be completely green and you willsee Burn Done in the events list.

    4.2Single Layer 2 DVD drives

    The software default is set to copy the whole DVD movie disc with all

    special features, trailers, etc., to a single layer 4.7GB disc, using onesingle layer DVD burner. For two DVD drives you need to change a fewsettings.

    Insert the movie you wish to copy into one DVD drive and a blank 4.7 GBdisc into your DVD burner. Run DVD neXt COPY by clicking on either thedesktop icon, orDVDneXtCOPY in the Start menu.

    5.0 Graphical User Interface (GUI)This is a brief overview of the various windows you will see when runningDVD neXt COPY. We also discuss each of the features you will find in

    DVD neXt COPY. A more detailed description of how to use the softwarewill follow in our Advanced Operations Chapter.

    5.1 Main Control Panel

    The software opens in the Main Control Panel, which gives you accessto all the various Projects, Settings and Profiles. You can also start anew project from here. Since the software will default to copying theentire DVD movie disc, you also have the option to copy the Movie Onlyor create a Custom DVD by deselecting certain tracks and title sets.

    If you are online when your run the software, the software will contactour website and ask if there is an update. The Main Control Panel Dynamic Window will then show you the current DVD neXt COPY

    news and any information concerning the latest version and updates. Inthis example, the Dynamic Window is providing links to some flashtutorials.

    Projects_Burn or delete a previous project on your hard drive. Add a new projectto your project library or browse for a DVD movie on your network. (Back)

    Settings_

    Change the default settings and select your DVD burner and preferredDVD burning speed. Select or deselect other various settings.(Back)

    5.3 Settings Window

    If you wish to change the default settings, you can click on the settingstab. The Settings Window allows you to select your DVD burner as well

    as your preferred DVD burning speed. You can choose to have the DVDEject after Burn and use Buffer Underrun Protection. You may alsodetermine the permanent and temporary locations on your hard drive thatyou choose to covert the DVD movie to.

    There are other settings for disabling your screen saver, checking forupdates, showing tooltips when you mouse over a feature and selectingthe sounds you would like to hear at the completion of the conversioncycle and burning process. Selecting the GUI language will cause thesoftware to open in the selected language.

    Select_DVD BurnerScan you computer for all DVD burners and select the one you wish touse for the burning project. (Back)

    Project_LibrarySet the location of your project library on your computer. The softwarewill default to converting the movie to a temp file on your hard drive. Youmust deselect Burn After Convert, in the New Project Window toconvert a movie to your Project Library on your hard drive. (Back)

    Temporary_PathSet the temporary directory where the files are to be temporarily storedon your hard drive. If you are making a copy of a DVD to DVD blankdisc, these files will be deleted after the burning process is complete.(Back)

    5.4 Manage Profiles Window

    This window allows you to select audio and subtitle languages, set the

    Target Size and Quality of the DVD movie to be burned. You may alsochoose to Overwrite Deposit Buffer, Remove Region Limitation or enablethe Preview While Copy function. You should experiment with varioussettings to see which works best with your particular system and discmedia.

    Once you have selected all your preferences, you click on OK and theywill be saved to that profile. You will be presented with the option to selectany profile you have created when you click on NEW in the Main ControlPanel.

    6.0 Advanced OperationsThis is an overview of the various advanced operations found in DVD neXtCOPY that will greatly enhance your DVD copying experience. It is

    6.3 Custom DVD

    Clicking on Custom DVD during the conversion process will allow you topreview and deselect any Title Sets or Audio and Subtitle Tracks you do

    not want to copy.

    Insert the movie you wish to copy into the DVD burner. (If you are using 2drives, insert a blank DVD disc into your second burner).

    Run DVD neXt COPY by clicking on either the desktop icon orDVDneXtCOPY in the Start menu.

    Step 1: Click on the New button.

    After clicking on ok, the Dynamic Window in the Main Control Panel willdisplay all the Title Sets in the Movie, with only the main movie expanded.In most cases, the main movie will be Video Title Set 1. But on discs withmany Title Sets it could be another Title Set. (You can also identify the

    main movie by the size of the (MB).

    Individual Title Sets on the DVD movie disc may also be collapsed andexpanded in the Dynamic Window by clicking on the blue arrows in theright column.

    6.4 Conversion to Project Library

    If you are making ONE copy of a DVD movie to a DVD blank disc, theDVD movie uploaded during the conversion cycle (writing to your harddrive) will be deleted after the burning process is complete. For multiple

    copies, you need to convert the DVD movie to yourProject Library folderon your hard drive, which defaults to C:\DVDneXtCOPY\. (In the SettingsWindow, you can browse for any folder on your network and designate itas the location of your Project Library).

    To convert a movie to your default Project Library:

    Step 1: With the movie in your drive, click on New in the Master ControlPanel. This opens the New Project Window. Deselect Burn AfterConvert in Additional Settings and click on OK.
