Vt. He was prominent in the early history of Vermont and during its struggle forindependence. He was the first town clerk of Tinmouth; was a special judge ofRutlandshire before the county was organized ; was one of the first representatives to theState Legislature in 1778-9, and was a member of the convention at Windsor, Vt., July 2-8,1777, which established a constitution and frame of government for the State of Vermont.He and his three sons served in the Revolutionary War, and at one time during the war hewas appointed commissioner of sequestration for the State.
