Educate graduate students about fundamental concepts of E-Commerce and various transaction types

including B2C and B2B. Advanced topics include e-Auction, e-Government, e-Marketing and

advertisements, digital library, and Web mining algorithms and their applications.

Data Mining (MIS 6330, MIS 6110-03; MIS 6500): S11, S12, S14, S15, S16

Educate graduate students about data warehouse and business intelligence technologies using Microsoft

SQL Server. Students first learn how to design and construct fact and dimension tables with SSDT and

SSMS tools after main concepts of data warehouse are introduced. Then they apply various data mining

algorithms for clustering, classification, and association mining purposes to simple real world data sets.

MDX queries will be also introduced.

Data Warehouse (MIS 6110-02): F17

Educate graduate students about data warehouse using Microsoft SQL 2016 Server. Students first learn

how to design and construct fact and dimension tables with SSDT and SSMS tools after main concepts

of data warehouse are introduced.

Advanced Data Communication (MIS 6200): F10

Educate graduate students about communications protocols and models (including the OSI model), basic

concepts of data transmission and transmission media, concepts of wide area network design, selected

topics in local area network design, and network management issues including security.

System Development (MIS 6120, MIS 6900): S06, F06Satellite, S07, S08, S11, S12, S13, S14, S15, S16

Educate graduate students about fundamental concepts of project management and systems analysis and

design. Students learn how to create new information systems effectively and efficiently by learning

agile approach and how they are applied, understanding group dynamics and interactive teamwork

required in system development efforts, and improving oral, written, and graphical communication skills.

Students are required to work in a group to develop mobile apps for either Android or iOS platform

while exercising Scrum method.

Advanced Web-application Development (MIS 5650/6650): S03, S04, S05, S06

Help senior undergraduate and graduate students gain hands-on skills in PHP and MySQL to develop a

working prototype for an E-commerce Web site. In a computer lab environment, students learn how to

use various commands and an editor, Emacs, available in a Linux system. Final project components

include basic web connection, MySQL database manipulation, searching and authorization, PHP-

generated dynamic HTML documents, and other advanced features such as a shopping cart system.

Advanced Data Communication (MIS 5300): S07, F07, S08, F08

Educate senior undergraduate students about communications protocols and models (including the OSI

model), basic concepts of data transmission and transmission media, concepts of wide area network

design, selected topics in local area network design, and network management issues including security.

Final project is to design a successful network for a given scenario using OPNET software.

Database Management (MIS 3330): S04, S05

Educate junior and senior BIS students in the growing field of database management systems. Using

both Oracle and SQL server, students completing this course feel comfortable with a wide variety of

database concepts including logical and physical database design, normalization, and ANSI SQL.
