Transitionalcellcarcinomaisthemostcommoncanceroftheurinarytractinthedog.Themostcommonmethodsofdiagnosisareurinarycytology,suctionbiopsyofthebladder,andtissuebiopsyviacystoscopyorsurgery.Allofthesemethodsdetectthecancerlateinthecourseofdisease.TheCADETSMBRAFMutationDetectionAssayisaurine-basedDNAtestforearlydetectionofcaninetransitionalcellcarcinoma.TheBRAFmutationisfoundin85%ofcaninetransitionalcellcarcinomacasesandhasnotbeendetectedintheurineofdogswithothercancersnorindogswithnon-neoplasticinflammatorybladderdiseaseornonmalignantbladdermasses.Thetesthasbeenshowntodetecttransitionalcellcarcinomaindogupto4monthspriortodevelopmentofclinicalsymptoms.TheBRAFMutationDetectionAssayisnotaffectedbyhematuriaorbacteriuria.Dogsthattestpositiveforthemutationcanbemonitoredduringtreatmenttodetecttheextentofresidualdisease.Eachkitcontainseverythingneededtocollectandsubmitthesample.Thereisasmallcardboardboxandawhiteenvelopeforeachkit.
