• Rotary Action Group recognized by Rotary International

• Formed in 2004 by Marion Bunch

RFHA MISSION:

To save and improve the lives of children and families who lack access to preventive health care and education through the mobilization of Rotarians and global partners

WHAT ARE RFHD’S?

ROTARY FAMILY HEALTH DAYS

• Initiated by Rotary in Uganda

• 3 day Programme that runs delivers health services to disadvantagedcommunities through an effective partnership model

• Driven by RFHA and Rotary Clubs in South Africa at 160 sites in all 9provinces in conjunction with partners

• Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa

• Pan African with planned expansion into India, Sri Lanka and SouthAmerica

o CALL TO ACTION: TO FULFIL A COMMON PURPOSE AND GOAL FOR ALL ROTARIANS

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF RFHAWITHIN THE PROGRAMME MODEL

• Obtain all partnerships and funding sources

• Lynchpin partner

• Develop, activate, execute and monitor plans, communications, media, training and roll out:– National Department of Health – national, provincial and district levels

– 3 Rotary Districts – 3 Steering Committees, 225 clubs nationally, 5 000 Rotary volunteers to activate 181 sites

– PEPFAR/USG Agencies and implementing partner NGOs

– Coca Cola Business Unit South Africa and The Coca Cola Africa Foundation

– 4 Coca Cola Bottlers

– Media Houses – National Broadcaster SABC, Caxton, YFM, ETV, Primedia, Sunday Times, Media 24 News, Independent Group Cape Community Newspapers

– Development of new local partners

OVERVIEW

BUILDING ON FROM THE 2013 HEALTH DAYS:

• Three day programme: 9 – 11, May 2013

• 160 sites in 9 Provinces across South Africa

• 68 000 disadvantaged clients through sites

• 250 000 health interventions

• 225 Rotary clubs with 5 000 Rotarians and volunteers

• Launch site: Zandspruit, Johannesburg with Minister Motsoaledi anddignitaries

• Dates: 2nd – 4th April 2014 – over three days

• Where: 9 South African Provinces

• Target: 80 000 clients through sites

(2013 – 65 000 people went through out sites)

• Sites nationally: 160 (2013 - 160 sites)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROTARY

• Establish Rotary structures for RFHD’s in each District• Identify with DoH all 160 sites in 9 provinces in South Africa• Engage with DoH , PEPFAR/USG partners at Provincial

and District level• Develop a media campaign for social mobilization

and partner exposure• Build and manage the sites • Determine add on services at the sites• Distribute data collection forms for each site• Train Rotary Club members on everything• Identify a launch/close site with the DoH
