your service. Photos / Videos – Showcasing your service to
your target audience.
Domain Names
Choose a domain name that relates to your business if possible or use the business name.
e.g. www.selfcateringnewcastle.com Domains names can be purchased from
approximately £5 - £20 per year. Go for .com if you are targeting
a global market, or .co.uk if you are only targeting the UK market.

Hosting is the storage of files for your website. Free hosting – Google, Bravenet, Weebly etc Shared Hosting – The most common and easy
to set up / manage. Dedicated Hosting – Quite expensive, only
needed for high traffic sites like Tesco Online, Ticket Master etc.

Content Mangement Systems (CMS) A content mangement system is designed to
allow an end-user to easily enter text and photos / videos.
The functions are very similar to Microsoft word. (WYSISWYG)
You do not need to understand any HTML programming code to run a website.
CMS can be “open source” or commercial systems.
Content within your website
Content is King! Try and update your website on a regular basis with new
and interesting information. Write for your audience! Not what you think Google
would like. Keywords and search term phrases are important. Blogs and regular updates via newsletters all help drive
more traffic to your site.
Using Social Media
Facebook and Twitter act as another marketing channel for your website.
Use them to back up and promote your website and as another method of attracting customers.
Youtube, Vimeo and Flickr for media (photos / videos) Remember to create some content to back up any photo
or video. Always link back to your website.
