Dear Central New Mexico Research Challenge Participants:
I want to congratulate you on behalf of the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center for qualifying for the Central New Mexico Research Challenge. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at real scientific research – and perhaps the first step on the path toward a rewarding career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
You might not have given much thought yet to your future career choices, but it’s not too soon to consider health care as a profession. Students with a STEM background are ideally suited to become doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals and biomedical researchers. At UNM we offer outstanding programs in these areas, along with scholarships for qualified students.
As the Research Challenge celebrates its 60th year, I want to thank the organizers, volunteers, parents, sponsors, teachers and mentors for their dedication in providing such an excellent learning experience for students. We look forward to working with them to prepare students for successful scientific and technical careers.
Sincerely,
