2012 Live United Event

Sustaining Supporter Award Presented by Intel Corporation

Enterprise Holdings provides consistent, long-term financial support to Valley of the Sun United Way. They have increased their campaign revenue by 10 percent each year for the past five years. Last year alone, their employees not only increased personal giving by 28 percent but employee participation grew. However, financial support is not all that is given. By participating in Generation United and the Women’s Leadership Council the Enterprise staff gives of their time and talents to improve

our community.

Tocqueville Campaign Excellence Award

US Airways consistently achieves high levels of donors contributing at the Tocqueville Society giving level. Through their longstanding leadership and nationwide commitment, US Airways community involvement tells the ongoing story of giving back. They continue to grow, not only through employee participation, but through giving.

Leadership Giving Award

Achieving an all-time record for leadership giving, APS/Pinnacle West captured their internal spirit of community involvement. More than 1,380 Leadership Givers raised over $1.7 million! Because of their success and ability to leverage campaign best practices, they are often asked to share their insights. APS/Pinnacle West’s

commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families tells an inspiring story.

Chairman’s Award

PetSmart provides outstanding overall support for Valley of the Sun United Way.Leading the way, its leadership remains steadfast in regards to social responsibility.In 2011 PetSmart increased overall campaign revenue by including its distributioncenters in its campaign for the first time. Through the mobilization of employee volunteers they, again, touched the needs of the community. They further demonstrated their commitment to the community by investing over 92 percent of total campaign dollars to the work of Valley of the Sun United Way.

Spirit of Caring Award

Again, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. has pushed the boundaries of community involvement. For more than a decade, through their dedication and spirit, they continue to make positive local impact. In 2011 their campaign revenue increased 400 percent, total donors increased 200 percent and volunteerism grew dramatically. Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.’s leadership sets the benchmark for the rest of their employees by: serving on the board, volunteering for numerous internal programs, supporting community partners and even implementing paid

time off for employee volunteer work.

Community Impact Award

Desert Schools Federal Credit Union’s strong commitment to our community is led by a diverse and motivated group of long-time employees, executives and new hires. Through Desert Schools’ leadership and their personal community involvement, they continue to empower our children’s neighborhoods. Desert Schools invested more than 85 percent of their total campaign to the work of Valley of the Sun United Way.

Outstanding Nonprofit Campaign Award

Friendly House is a highly valued partner of Valley of the Sun United Way. For 90 years, its mission has been to promote success and independence by serving the educational and human service needs of Arizona families. They grew their campaign by $2,500 last year – with 90 percent of their total campaign directly touching our community. Friendly House, through their leadership and commitment to the Valley, has been a long-time advocate for Valley of the Sun United Way’s community work.

Speaker Appreciation Award

Katia Howard is known as a passionate champion for Valley of the Sun United Way. She consistently goes above and beyond to eloquently bring to life the needs of her community and the goals of Valley of the Sun United Way. Her heartfelt presentations highlight the need in our community and inspire others to give. Katia is an inaugural Woman’s Leadership Council member, Employee Campaign Manager, Leadership Society Speaker, and a community volunteer. She leads by example and her team strives to meet and exceed campaign responsibilities.

Dynamic Partnership Award

Schreiber Foods truly is a dynamic partner of Valley of the Sun United Way, with a long track record of enthusiastic volunteerism and fundraising. With a small workforce at its facility in Tempe, employees raised an impressive $31,398 with an astounding 95 percent employee participation rate. Coupled with the company’s corporate match, Schreiber’s 2011 contribution reached $62,797!

In-Kind Giving Award

North Hills Church has been supporting Valley of the Sun United Way by helping to meet vital community needs for years. They were one of the very first locations to host a Project Connect homeless outreach event, and their church community has served in various leadership and volunteer roles to host Project Connect events at least once a year. Through the commitment of their entire congregation, they have also contributed to Valley of the Sun United Way’s Permanent Supportive Housing Initiative. North Hills Church is passionate about serving our community.

US Airways generously provided airline gift cards for Valley of the Sun United Way’s 2011 Campaign to reward and recognize award-winning campaigns. Gift cards are determined by the following criteria:

· Organizations that rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their respective Top Campaign category each receive one pair of gift cards

· All award winning organizations in their Top Campaign category who have 70% or more of its total campaign supporting Valley of the Sun United Way, are entered into a drawing for one pair of gift cards per category

· Organizations who are ranked 4th-25th in their respective Top Campaign category are entered into a drawing for one pair of gift cards per category

· Special award recipients receive one pair of gift cards
