  • 3About the Independence Events Center The Independence Events Center is a multi-purpose arena located in Missouris fourth largest City of Independence. Located off I-70 and minutes away from downtown Kansas City, this $68 million dollar state-of-the-art arena features 5,800 fixed seats and 2,200 parking spaces. Since opening in November 2009, the events center has hosted a variety of events including multiple concerts and sporting events. The events center is home to two professional sports franchises including the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League and the Missouri Comets of the (MISL) Major Indoor Soccer League. The facility also features a year-round second sheet of ice (Centerpoint Community Ice), contemporary amenities and flexible seating for up to 7,000.

  • 5The Independence Events Center is easily accessible from the United States Interstate Highway System. The Independence Events Center is located off the intersection of Missouri Highway 470 and Interstate 70 which is approximately 15 miles east of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

    Directions at a GlanceTake I-29 South to I-435 East (towards St. Louis), I-70 East (exit 63 on left), I-470/MO-291 South (via exit 15A) to US-40 (exist 16-A), turn left onto US-40, turn left onto East Valley View Parkway.

    ADA SERVICESAs part of our commitment to provide every guest of the Independence Events Center with the most dynamic and exciting entertainment experience possible, we strive to meet or exceed all structural and service requirements as stipulated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We have created this information to provide our disabled guests with information concerning our facility, services and policies. If there are any questions about our building, or if you have any further needs, please call the Independence Events Center at 816.442.6100 and ask to speak with our Event Staff.

    ParkingHandicap Accessible parking is available in our East & South Lots. The Independence Events Center has 43 designated accessible spaces. In order to park in the spaces reserved for disabled guests, the vehicle must have a state issued handicapped window pass, sticker or license plate. Any vehicle may drop off a disabled patron at the front of the Independence Events Center and then park their car in the parking lot.

    TicketingTickets for all events will be available at the Independence Events Center Box Office, Ticketmaster.com and Outlet Locations or by phone, 1.800.745.3000. If accessible seating is needed, you must specifically request accommodations. The following ticketing policies have been developed for companion seating guests to ensure that the maximum number of accessible seats are available to our patrons.

    Any ticket limits enforced for the general public will be in effect for accessible seating as well.

    In order to provide seating for as many patrons with disabilities as possible, one companion seat may be purchased with each accessible seat, up to the ticket limit.

    Additional companion seats are available at the Independence Events Center Box Office only. The seller will locate companion seats as close to the accessible seats as possible, but not in the specific accessible seating area.

    Accessible seating tickets will be available in all price ranges available to the general public.

    Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis to all guests needing accessible seating.

    If an event is sold out, any unsold accessible seats will be held until 48 hours prior to the start of the event.

    At that point, available accessible seats will be released for sale to the general public.

    Guests requiring accessible seating, but not holding tickets for accessible sections, may be accommodated through the Guest Services Office located behind Section 109 (based on available seats).

    Assisted Listening DevicesAssisted listening devices are available at Independence Events Center to hearing-impaired guests at no cost. The assisted listening device is a headset that broadcasts the Independence Events Center Sound System on FM frequency. Any patron checking out an assisted listening device must leave a drivers license or a valid form of identification to receive the headset. They are available at the Guest Services Desk located behind Section 109 near the East Entrance.

    ElevatorsThere are two public elevators that are available to handicapped patrons to provide access between levels. They are located in the concourse behind Sections 103 and 112 on the Main Concourse Level.

    Emergency EvacuationThe Event Staff at the Independence Events Center have been trained in Emergency Evacuation Procedures and will be available to assist you in the event of an actual evacuation.

    Arena InformationThe Events Center Guest Services Office is located on the concourse behind section 109 near the East Entrance and is available to help all guests at the Independence Events Center. The attendant can assist patrons in finding accessible seating, directions, resolving ticket issues and checking out assisted listening devices.

    RestroomsEvery restroom in the Independence Events Center is equipped with handicap accessible stalls and sinks. All restrooms, including four (4) family restrooms, are located on the Main Concourse Level. These rooms are convenient for parents to aid their children of the opposite gender.

    Access and SeatingThere is ample seating available to all disabled patrons for all events held at the Independence Events Center. Accessible seating is available in all price levels including the floor, concourse level and upper level. The exact accessible seats that are available for sale may vary from event to event due to different configurations of the Independence Events Center. Patrons with accessible seating may enter the Independence Events Center at the East or South entrance for access to the floor and upper level. Independence Events Center has seating available for eight (8) handicap and eight (8) attendants on the lower level, and 27 handicap and 27 attendants in the upper level.

    Floor seating varies, based on the event.

    Service AnimalsAny guide dog or other service animal that is assisting an Independence Events Center guest is welcome in the Independence Events Center.

    Sign Language InterpreterA sign language interpreter will be available at the Independence Events Center on an as-needed basis. If a patron requires this service, they must notify the facility at least ten (10) days before an event. Please call 816.442.6100 and ask to speak to the Event Manager for the specific event to make your request for an interpreter to be available.

    Ticket WindowsWheelchair accessible windows are located at the Independence Events Center Box Office located at street level by the East Entrance.

    Water FountainsAll of the water fountains in the Independence Events Center were designed to be accessible to all guests.

    WheelchairsThe facility does not provide wheelchairs for patron use. Wheelchairs in First Aid are used by facility paramedics for medical emergencies only. Patrons are advised to bring their personal wheelchairs if required.

    ManagementIndependence Events Center is owned by the City of Independence, Missouri. The Independence Events Center Management Company staff is comprised of seasoned professionals in the facility management industry.
