  • DotA 2 Basic Setup and Keymap GuideBy: KingZi0n - v1.0

The Peregrine has been thoroughly tested in DotA 2 and if used properly will result in greater focus, increased in-game awareness, and quicker reaction time when activating abilities and items. This guide presents a starting point for using the glove in game, but remember that you can tweak and customize it for your unique play style. With some time and practice we are confi dent that the Peregrine will give you an advantage!

  • Abilities and Items

The layout below shows a sample Tinker setup. The hotkeys QWER are placed on your Thumb Tip Pad to fingertip TouchPoints. Attack A and Stop S are on the side of the pointer finger (shown on page 1). Secondary Abilities D and F are on the sides of the middle and ring finger (shown on page 1).

Item Slots 1, 2, 3 are placed just below the fingertips, and Item Slots 4, 5, 6 go on the next joint down. This layout makes it easy to remember the item slots. (Imagine a virtual grid laid out on your fingers that corresponds with the in-game item slots)

  • Thumb Fat

The Thumb Fat is setup with F1 for quick hero selection and TAB to cycle through controllable units. The Thumb Fat is very versatile. Some users program it to level up abilities (CTRL+Q,W,E,R), or for shop hotkeys. Other great keys to bind here are Secondary Abilities D and F or Y for Chat Wheel. Chat wheel prompts are great too, such as programming B to send a chat message to your team to fall back (See DotA 2 menu options). The Thumb Fat works exceptionally well for activating TouchPoints located on the sides of the fingers. While not assigned in this basic guide, advanced users may want to assign additional hotkeys to finger side to Thumb Fat combinations.

    Palm Pad

The Palm Pad has C to select the courier, ALT for map ping, B for shop, and G for tower fortification. The Palm Pad is the panic pad and great for hotkeys you want to activate quickly, so adjust it to your preference. Some users program the palm with hotkeys for shop and quick buy, item slots, voice chat, stats view, etc. The Palm Pad is a very useful so we recommend spending time thinking through the ideal configuration for your play style.

  • Advanced Layout Setup

Item & Ability Combos - When placing items in slots during the game, consider what abilities you may use in connection with the item. For example, if you are playing Tiny and purchase a Blink Dagger, you may want to place the Blink Dagger in Item Slot 1. When you activate your Blink Dagger (on the fi rst joint of the Pointer Finger) you can quickly slide your thumb up to activate Avalance (on the fingertip of the Pointer Finger). If you want to combo Blink then Toss instead, just move the Blink Dagger over to Item Slot 2.

Extra Unit Selection If you are playing a hero with controllable units (Lone Druid, Chen, etc.) set up the fingertip to thumb fat TouchPoints to select or cycle units. This is an easy to remember setup since pointer fingertip to thumb fat is already hero select. You can use TAB to cycle through units, or assign unit groupings by programming unit group numbers to the fi ngertips. (Example: Lone Druid Setup the middle finger tip to be 2, then select the bear and press CTRL+2 on the keyboard to assign the bear to Unit Group 2. Then select Lone Druid and his bear, and assign them to Unit Group 3, and setup the ring fingertip to be 3. Now Pointer Fingertip will select Lone Druid, Middle Fingertip will select the bear, and Ring Fingertip will select both Lone Druid and the bear.)

More Than 4 Abilities - For heroes with more than 4 activatible abilities (such as Keeper of the Light) you can place extra abilities on TouchPoints below the finger tips, or on the side of the fingers activated by the Thumb Fat (see Thumb Fat section above). If you place extra abilities on the fi rst joint of the fingers you may need to reduce or rearrange TouchPoints that trigger items. Experiment to see what works best for you.

  • Summary

This guide provides a basic Peregrine keymap layout for DotA 2 but is only a starting point. As you gain in-game experience with the Peregrine Glove you may want to modify the hotkeys of various TouchPoints to suit your play style. Learn what feels most comfortable for you and make changes accordingly. Like any new device, the Peregrine will take some practice to master. It will take some adjustment to get used to typing with the Peregrine on, but after several games it should be fine.

Thank you for reading this guide, we hope you have a great time with your Peregrine Glove. Please send comments, ideas and Peregrine stories to: [email protected] --- we would love to hear from you!
