He is born in San fernando (Cádiz) in 1983.

He begins his musical studies at his hometown

conservatoire where he chooses his

specialization in saxophone with the maestro

Miguel Garrido Aldomar.

Later he joins the midle grade conservatoire

in Cádiz with this instrument where he obtains

the first prize at the Chamber music contest

interpreting Hindemith.

Simultaneously he begins studies in

interpretation for saxophone with well-known

teachers such as Antonio Torres, Jose Antonio

Santos and Miguel Romero.

Due to his interest in Early music and in the

recorder in particular, and also in its XVII-XVIII

Century repertoire he joins the same

conservatoire with this instrument doing the

double major together with the saxophone.

It is at this conservatoire where he has

classes and where he is given his first

guidelines on the interpretation of historic

music under the guidance of Guillermo

Peñalver. While receiving practice and theory

lessons on this instrument, he also takes

courses with leading names in early music of

the likes of Michael Schneider, Vicente Pa-

rrilla, Fernando Paz, Paul Leenhouts and Dan

Laurin to name a few.

After finishing his midle grade studies he joins

the Superior School of Music in Catalonia

(ESMuC) where he graduates with the

prestigious music researcher Pedro

Memelsdorff where he receives master

classes from Andrew Ackerman, Lorenzo

Cavasanti, Xavier Blanch, Marc Häntai, Pep

Borràs, Lorenzo Coppola, etc.

As a recorder player he has played in

concerts in the Palau de la Música, at the

Caixa Fórum de Barcelona under the

direction of Emilio Moreno, as a soloist he has

performed with the JOF de Figueras under

the baton of Jordi Piccorelli at the Teatre

Jard ì, etc.

After finishing his Bachelor’s degree he starts

the chamber music ensemble Elcurarojo in

which he is soloist and Artistic Director.

Elcurarojo is a chamber music ensemble

founded by its director and recorder player

Alberto Domínguez Gálvez, and assembled

around a new generation of talented young but

experienced musicians who collaborate and

perform regularly with world prestigious

orchestras such as the “Real Orquesta Sinfónica

de Sevilla” (ROSS), the “Orquesta Barroca de

Sevilla” (National 2011 music award),

“Accademia del Piacere”, “Amsterdam Baroque

Orchestra”, Al Ayre Español”, “Poema

Harmónico”, etc.

Elcurarojo owes its name to the great composer

Antonio Vivaldi who was known as “il prete

rosso” (the Red or Ginger priest) due to its

priesthood and hair colour.

FAMOUS CONCERTS FOR SMALL

RECORDERS

This is the title which gives name to the first work

with which Elcurarojo presents its repertoire, a

repertoire based on concerts as soloist for small

sizes of recorder like the soprano, soprano in D

and sopranino. The use of these small recorders

with such a distinctive high pitch sonority in a

chamber orchestra ensemble, together with

instruments with powerful low register notes

such as the Theorbo or the Baroque double

bass, make this show very special and

particular for the listener.

The concerts introduce varied typologies and

groupings. When it comes to the works of

english composers William Babell and Robert

Woodcock, whose concerts are written for

4 violins, basso continuo and a Sixth flute as

soloist, they are not very usual for chamber

concert groupings of the XVIII Century. During

the different movements the violins acquire more

relevance intereacting with each other and with

the soloist flute.

Nonetheless the concert for soprano recorder

by Giuseppe Sammartini and the concert for

sopranino by Antonio Vivaldi introduce the more

usual grouping instead of violins and viola and

the typical Italian configuration of three

movements “Allegro-Largo-Allegro” in which the

tutties of the orchestra gradually intermingle

with great recorder virtuoso passages.
