SONHOOSICK FALLS, N. Y. 9

HOOSICK FALLS, N. Y.

The industrious village of Hoosick Falls, N. Y. enjoys a populationof nearly 10,000 and is located twenty-seven miles northeast of Troy, on

the Fitchburg Railroad. Hoosick Falls is connected by trolley with

North Hoosick, Walloomsac, N. Y. and Bennington, North Bennington, and East Bennington, Vermont. The Hoosick River furnishes water

power for many manufacturing industries, principal among which may

be mentioned the Walter A. Wood Mowing and Reaping Machine Co.,

Clark Bros. & Co. Knit Goods, Hoosick Falls Hosiery Co., Knobles &a

Johnston Machinery Co., manufacturers of paper mill machinery, and

other minor interests.

Hoosick Falls is the center of a large farming country which

accounts for the general prosperity of its merchants. The streets are

well lighted and kept, and its educational and religious advantages are

of high order, making the village especially desirable as a place of abode.

Among the principal newspapers of Hoosick Falls may be mentioned

the Hoosick Falls Democrat and the Standard, both of which enjoy a

good circulation.

The village has up-to-date express, telegraph, telephone and bank-

ing facilities.
