While we are based in this current building this issue is challenging. Therefore we have to ask everyone to continue to support us . Also a big thank you to Celine Mc Loughlin and also Maeve Mc Neill parents, who helped us since we opened. As you ar e aware with the increase in numbers in both schools this year the traffic and parking situation has to be managed to the best of our ability. Parents or staff cannot park on the drop off zone/drop off on the roundabout. Change of Morning Routine A current concern is the fact that each morning we are delaying parents leaving and this is causing difficulties outside. With Health and Safety in mind, from tomorrow onwards (Wednesday) the children will only sing outside on Monday and Friday Mornings. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the teachers will bring the children straight in at 8:30. Junior Infants Starting next Monday all the Junior Infants will start lining up outside with their teachers. They have settled in so well and the staff are delighted with them! They have practiced at the end of the day and familiar with the process. Family Day/Peace Day We will be giving you information regarding our Family Day/ Peace Day very soon and the Parents Group will be having a meeting to get started arranging the Day next Monday morning in the Parent’s Room after drop off. If you can help please fill out the slip below and drop it into the RED BOX by the door. Last year we had the Peace Day and the theme was 'One Goal One Aim'. This tied in with Amnesty International where Sport was used all over the world to bring people together on a particular day. We are looking at having a Parent Five a Side Soccer Blitz and also some races for the children. We are also looking at having a BBQ. It is a fun day where people have an opportunity to meet outside of school. The date we are looking at is the last Saturday in September (24 th ) from 2-5pm. In preparation for this we would ask that you send in a white T- shirt with your child that will fit over their clothes as they will be painting them in class to wear on the Family Day Young Scientist If any parent has background in Science Fiona (5 th & 6 th Class) and Aoife (3 rd & 4 th Class) would be delighted with any support as they are

BLOGS

All teachers will have their blogs

set up this week. They can be

accessed on the website. You will

be able to see what homework

and any other class

information on theBLOG.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

I am currently updating school

policies. I will be placing these on

our website for your information.

A hard copy will be kept in the

office if you wish to

look at them.

CLASS MEETINGS

We will be having class meetings

in October. These will be grouped

by class. This simply gives the

teacher an opportunity to meet

with you as a group and also to

inform you regarding your child's

education and class activities for

the year. In particular for new

parents it gives you an

opportunity to ask any questions

that may arise.

If you wish to meet with me or any

of the teachers regarding your

child or any issues, please do not

hesitate to make an appointment

Parent Council-BOM

The Parent Council will hold their

first meeting in October to discuss

nominations for the Board of 

Management which needs to be

re-elected this October. The

Parent Council nominate 2 parent

representatives (1male/1 female)members to the Board of 

Management of the School. The

Parent Council run all fundraising

and family/social events for the

school.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Halloween Break starts at mid-day

on Friday 28th October returning

on Monday 7th

November.

The Christmas Break will start at

midday on Thursday 22nd

 

December returning to school on

Monday 9th

January 2012.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

If you want to register a child for

the After School Club you can

contact Karolina at 087-161 3836

or leave a message for her with

Claire in the office.

Sick Slips and Notes

If your child is sick or coming late

to school you can call the office of email Claire at

[email protected]

and she will pass a message to

your class teacher. Please

remember to send in a note to

your teacher upon return so that

they can add to your child’s file. If 

a child has 20 or more

unexplained absences throughout

the year the school is obliged to

report this to the National

Educational Welfare Board 

(NEWB)

for any correspondence/slips/notes you want to drop in.

Any monies to the

school need to be

brought to the office

and receipted.
