Introduction

The topic chosen for research is the effect of working or not working while in college on students. I will observ

y a majority of college students choose to work even though they are taking a lot of classes.

I have chosen this topic because I have many friends in college who have a job. I also have many relatives th

ve a part-time job. My sister works part-time on weekdays and full-time on weekends. As a matter of fact, I a

ing to find a job for next quarter so I can work part-time while attending college. I believe that is mainly why I am

erested in researching on this topic. I want to observe the negative and positive effects of having a job and being

ll-time student in college.

Problem Statement

It is important for people to understand that a majority of students in college have a job. Many of my professo

d part-time jobs while they were in college. It is important to understand that working while in college has a majo

pact on students. This topic is also crucial for college students because they are the ones that are working while i

llege.

I think this topic is important for parents because working in college will have a lot of effect on their children

rents play a major role in a student¶s life. They have a major impact on a lot of their child¶s decisions. College

uld consider whether a student has a job or not as a subject of great significance. Many colleges hire students to hav

m work in their offices, lab assistants, libraries, and stores. Lastly, it is important to professors who have studen

t have part-time jobs. Working while in college may have a lot impact on the quality of work a student may turn i

erefore, working while in college is an issue that is of great importance to students, parents, colleges, and professors



Research Questions

There are a lot of critical questions on this research topic. I have think of following 10 questions on why student

rk while there are in collage and effect of their work.

1. The first question I have is why do students work?

2. Do they work because they know other people that have a job?

3. Is there a psychological reason to why students have a job?

4. Do they decide to work because they feel left out of the crowd?

5. How long do students tend to work for?

6. Do they work so they can some work experience?

7. Do they work so they can write that in their resume?

8. Are these students working so they can get college credit?

9. Do they work because they are trying to get rid of debt that they will have as a result of going to college?

10. Do students work because they have a lot of free time?

Hypothesis

I believe the main reason why students choose to work in college is because they may have to pay for their

llege tuition. With the rising cost of college tuition, it is very hard for parents to fund for their child¶s education so

dents decide to work so they can pay off their loans and tuition. Many students do not get enough financial aid so

y have to work in order to pay for their tuition. Textbooks are really expensive. I wasted about a thousand dollars on

eless college textbooks. In some of those classes we do not even use the whole textbook. Well, there maybe a small

rcentage of those who probably work because they have a lot of free time. But the main reason students have a job is

get rid of that debt they will inherit after completing college.



Methodology

The topic I have chosen for research is effect of working or not working while in college on students. To ge

ough my research and to achieve the target I will use different style of method.

I use quantitative, qualitative, and observation style of method.

According to qualitative style I will discuss with students and teachers.

I will use different style of consultation methods like face to face discussion, meeting with students, talk b

I will also use quantitative method. I will look on internet; check in newspapers and magazine and other surveys

While interviews with students will not be formal or structured, the kind of questions I will ask include

following.

The general strategy for the interviews is to start off with broad questions and follow up on th

interviewee¶sresponses, to capture her or his meanings and to avoid imposing my meanings on the interviewee.

c. What do you think about to work while you studying?

I will undertake a situational analysis of my hypothesis and interview notes.

Finally i will write research report of my research notes.

ill be students and teachers of Brisbane North Institute of Tafe, Caboolture campus.

Limitation

The researcher cannot cover all students of the collage and can not cover all collages of the region.he will be the limitation of my research.
