About Ultrasound Testing:

Ultrasound Testing: a non-destructive technique,

fast and relatively inexpensive, able to detect the

presence of defects, to perform thickness meas-

urements and material characterization.

In addition to the majority of metals, different ma-

terials, such as plastics, concrete and cement,

and even rubber and wood can be tested with

this technique.

The principles behind Ultrasound Testing:

A train of short ultrasound pulses is gener-

ated and sent into a workpiece. The time

necessary to receive the reflected pulses

(time-of-flight) is directly correlated to the

workpiece thickness.

The presence of defects in the workpiece

affects the propagation of ultrasound pulses

and generates a difference in their return

time and amplitude. By measuring these

characteristics, useful information can be

obtained about the location and size of the

defect.

Ultrasound Testing techniques have been suc-

cessfully applied to:

Control of welded joints;

Thickness measurement, including within milling

machines;

Thickness measurement in multilayered plastics;

Characterization of concrete during hardening

phase;

Tool guidance in deep drilling;

External and internal cylindricity measuring.

Advantages of Ultrasound:

Interesting alternative to the use of X-rays;

Safe (no danger arising from ionizing radiation);

Significantly lower cost;

Applicable to automated test solutions;

How can Ultrasound analysis be applied?

MaGyc USPR-100 pulser can be installed on

milling machines according to the requirements;

The pulser can be used in a motorized tank sys-

tem in which the workpiece is immersed

(Immersion Tank) for a compete scan (c-scan).

DESCRIPTION

Model USPS-100 is an innovative instrument that

marks a new era in ultrasonic NDT analysis. Ideally

suited for almost every ultrasonic application, the

instrument is designed to give the highest perfor-

mance combining excellent hardware characteristics

with flexible software tools. USPS-100 is fully com-

patible with any type of element transducer.
