FRONT COVER• The front cover of the digipak is a shot of the lead

singer of my band and the protagonist in the music video I have created for the song ‘Green-Eyed Monster’ which is also the name for the title. The shot sees the protagonist through a tilted mid-shot; the tilt in the shot is used to imply that the protagonist’s life is turning sideways now the girl he loves is no longer interested in him. The shot also sees him looking elsewhere, the implication is that he is watching her with another person – I photoshopped green eyes onto him to suggest that he is the ‘Green-Eyed Monster’ to which the song is referring to. Moreover, I used the font ‘Franklin Gothic Medium’ for the band and album name. The band name is in bold and is larger than the album name as this should be the centre of attention in order to promote the band. The font is very clear and fitting I believe as it doesn’t look too serious, fancy or harsh; based on the one song I know by The 1984, they are fairly upbeat even though the subject matter is relatable and non-comical.

INSERT 1This insert shows the girl in the music video for ‘Green-Eyed Monster’. Whilst the album is not entirely dedicated to this song, the album is named after this song and so I have decided that this should be their main song; the song that will gain the most exposure on their album. For this reason, I felt it was important to make the album design orientated around the music video – this shot relates to the front cover and is tinted with a green filter in order to connote to the protagonist/front man’s jealousy.

BACK COVER AND SPINEThe back cover shows a shot of the protagonist/front man alone standing against a fence. It displays the record label ‘SubPop’s logo as well as a bar code to legitimise the album. Moreover it has the song names of seven songs to be found on the album. On the front cover, back cover and spine, the band name ‘The 1984’ is in white over a black background to highlight this as the focus of the digipak is to promote the band and to create a brand identity. I will do this by using this same style and font across the magazine cover as well in order to display convergence across multiple platforms. The song names and album cover are over green boxes to relate to the album name ‘Green-Eyed Monster’. The disc and second insert in the previous slide display an electric guitar and a guitarist – I feel this is important as the electric guitar is a key instrument in the vast majority of Indie bands as they are responsible for melodies, riffs, solos and backing instrumentals and so I felt it was effective to highlight this instruments to suggest to the viewer/listener that the band will contain prominent guitar features across the album
