    Different Kinds of Tongues

    Proverbs 21:23, "Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from

    troubles." The greatest problem some folks have is taming the tongue. I read one

    I. A Flattering Tongue. 'ee Prov.23:2. There is nothing $rong $ith pa(ing a

    person a genuine ompliment, and $e should do so. -n the other hand, flatter( is afalse praise. It is given for the purpose of gaining favor or influene to aomplish

    some purpose. latter( is a tool to use someone for (our o$n purposes or aims.

    II. A Fault-Finding Tongue. ompare /ob 32:101. /obs so alled friends

    onstantl( found fault $ith him. /ob had lost part of his famil(, his possessions,

    and even his health. Instead of tearing him do$n, he needed friends $ho $ould

    seek to lift him up and enourage him. Instead, lipha4 the Temanite, +ildad the

    had friends like /ob had $ho $ould need an( enemies.

    III. A Forward Tongue. 'ee Prov.10:31. "or$ard" has the idea of not (ielding or

    ompl(ing. It has the idea of something that is rooked and has no desire to

    straighten out. -ur tongues ought to be straight in $hat $e sa( onerning things

    $e hear and people $e are around.

    IV. A Factional Tongue. 'ee Prov. 6:17. There are those $ho $ith their tongues

    bring about dissension, li8ues and groups $ithin a larger group. ational tongues

    should not be enouraged b( othersrather, the( should be disouraged and

    rebuked.

    V. A Faithful Tongue. !ead Prov.19:1.The faithful tongue is motivated and moved b( faith

    at $ork in the heart. The +ible sa(s that a faithful $itness $ill not lie. The right kind of

    tongue $ill not spread a lie or speak a lie. -ne $ho uses his tongue to speak $ell of %ods
