Project Based Learning

(2010)
Project-Based
Learning for the 21st Century:
Skills for the Future
“Sudents become critical friends by
Giving constructive feedback to each
other, which helps them become awa
re of their own strengths and improve
on their interactions with each other.”
PBL was also considered one of the
best method which draw more involve
ment, interrest, investment in learning
from the students; it stimulates more
autonomous learning.

Teacher and student
intrinsic motivation in project-
based learning
Teacher positive intrinsic
motivation was positively related
to students’ instructional support,
thus led to students’ intrinsic
motivations.

Wide
Web: A Qualitative
Study of Resource
Integration
Support Mechanism during the Project
Based Learning didn’t appear adequate
to assist students in their complex
learning environtmet. Implication:
students’ ability to reflect on their learning
process is essential.
Students post on their
blog-folio
Students’ Post
Students share the link to
others, can also be
random people in their
social media
Students’ Share
Students earn feedback
from friends and the
teachers (or even others)
in a form of constructive
feedback
Peer & Teacher
Feedbacks: Apreciation Based on the feedback,
students could decide the
follow up actions, e.g.
revising, sharing to bigger
audiences.

THE USE OF E-PORTFOLIO
TO DEVELOP ENGLISH
LANGUAGE LEARNERS'
AUTONOMY AND INDEPENDENCE
Ivanova, Iksana (2017) Ammar, A.M.I (2016)
Understanding learners’ ways of
knowing might help
teachers better interpret how their
learners look at things and thus
connect with them more efficiently.
The findings
showed that using e-portfolios
motivated and enhanced
students’ writing, language learning,
assessment, and technical skills. The
findings also revealed that there was a
questionable attitude among
educators about the differences
between using paper-based portfolios
and e-portfolios for writing
development.
Allawdat, Maha (2013)
“Analysis of students and teachers
responses demonstrate many of the
benefits of e-portfolio practice
particularly regarding learners’
increased sense of ownership,
relevant teacher and peer feedback,
enriched learning experience at
both individual and technological
levels, enhanced opportunity for
self improvement and increased
awareness of the learning process.”

A Qualitative
Research
Qualitative Approach was done
by observing students’ blog-
folios and analyzing their
relflections. There were 20
participants, who were 1st
semester student teachers/
preservice teachers of English
Study Program, in the study.
The study was done during one
semester of Writing for Personal
Responses Class in 2017.
Students’ Voices
“Doing projects was really fun and
somehow it didn’t put as much pressur
e as what ‘normal’ assignments
usually do.”
PBL on Blog-folio creates a fun,
exciting, satisfying, and challenging
learning.
“Recording the projects in my personal blog i
s actually a good idea. I can get so many
feedbacks from my readers, especially my
classmates, so that I can improve my writing
skill and I can correct my mistake on the
grammar, punctuation, or the language.”
Feedback during PBL on Blog-folio helps
students increasing their skills
“The most important point in project based learning
is the effort and the feedback. From what I have
Learned, effort plays the biggest role here, because
a project has no limit, the limit is mine, my limit of
knowledge and my limit of ideas.”
“..., the projects support self-directed learning.”
“The lecturer’s role is to guide, not to give students
the answers to their questions.”
PBL on Blog-folio stimulates students’
awareness of students’ and teacher’s roles
“It provides opportunities for students to learn
about the topic in their own way, discover the
information in a unique way and look at real
applications to topics that are normally simply
talked about in textbooks.”
PBL on Blog-folio enforces students’
autonomous learning.
Students’ Voices (cont.)
“This was actually my first time ever to
chat with a stranger. Since I am really
awkward in real life, I was kind of
hesitating in the beginning, but the
conversation turns out happening
really well.”
PBL on Blog-folio give students
real-life experiences.
“The advantage I get from learning Project
Based Learning is to be able to manage the
time well because the project can not
be instant.”
PBL on Blog-folio enahances students’ skill
in time management.
“Technology projects allow students to cooperate
in partners or small groups to acquire information,
share resources, and create original works using
the computer as a tool. This benefits students as
they can build on team members range of
abilities and interests.”
PBL on Blog-folio enables
collaborative learning
“I am not sure about continuing my blog, I think I
am going to make a new one with the .com
domain and put everything about English there.”
PBL in Blog-folio stimulates students to do
more projects in the future.
