2. One of my contributions as Vice Dean, at the Fac. of Med., U. of K. was the adoption and

implementation of a computerized program for attendance of lectures, practical sessions and

rounds. This program is now considered as one of the tools in the evaluation of the

educational process at the Fac. of Med., U. of K. (i.e. sort of feedback correlating students’

attendance and examination results as well as providing a sensitive index of evaluating the

curriculum both at the students and teachers levels). It is still under day to day modification

and developments to cater for the educational needs of the Fac. of Med., U. of K.

3. Establishment of purpose built OSCE building costing 800000 USA Dollars. This is used for

the final OSCE MBBS exam of 6th year, Medical Students, Sudan Specialization Board,

Other Medical Schools in the country, the PACES exam of Royal College of Physicians –

UK, the MRCS of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Other under and post-

graduate exam and medical education activities.

4. The Newly adopted outcome based curriculum is under continuous assessment and

evaluation by the college at the level of the dean & the curriculum committee

5. Establishment of an Accreditation Committee at the Fac. of Med., U. of K. to cater for the

accreditation process locally and internationally

6. Establishment of a quality assurance department at the Faculty linked to a University Central

body.

7. The faculty established a two-year master program in medical education with international

links and contributors from all over the world i.e. (AMEE). This master program admits

students and teachers of medicine and allied health sciences and is opened for applicants

locally, regionally and internationally.

Contribution to Accreditation of the Faculty of Medicine, University of

Khartoum:

Participation as a leader and head of the accreditation committee that has finally resulted

in the accreditation of the medical school by Sudan medical council (SMC) guided by the

parameters which are indicated in the revised World Federation of Medical Education

Global Standards for quality improvement in basic medical education

The process of accreditation included series of workshops, meetings and activities:

a) Advocacy workshops to the academic staff, administrative staff, students and

stakeholders

b) Establishment of the Self-Study Committee

Abiding by the Guidelines of the world Federation of Medical Education which are

included in the byelaws of Sudan Medical council (Accrediting body), nine

subcommittees were established, each subcommittee addressed one of the nine domains

required for accreditation which are (Mission And Outcome, Educational Programme,

Assessment Of Students, Students, Academic Staff/Faculty, Educational Resources,

Programme Evaluation, Governance & Administration, and Continuous Renewal).

SMC standards (basic and the quality development) based on WFME and national

standards of Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MoHE&R), were adopted.

c) After a rigorous evaluation process by an independent panel of assessors in the presence

of a high delegate from WFME, our college successfully achieved accreditation as the

first medical school in Africa on 29th /May 2018

d) SMC was the first body in Africa and the Middle East and the ninth internationally

which had been accredited as an accrediting body for Sudan Medical Schools (see the

website of WFME).
