GOVERNMENT EFFORTS TO INCREASE THE USED OF QUALITY SEED

1. To Improve farmer’s knowledge and skill to produce seed for their own farms

2. To keep Breeder seed & Foundation seed available continously for seed growers

3. To promote promising varieties released by the Minister of Agriculture, by conducting demonstration plot at Government Seed Farms or farmer’s fields

Trend of Potato Production in IndonesiaTrend of Potato Production in Indonesia

Between 1969 and1995, potato production grew by an average of 13 percent per year; and by the mid 1990s, total annual production exceeded 1 million tons. Most of the production growth resulted primarily from the expansion of planting areas and, to a lesser extent, from yield improvement (Adiyoga, 1999, Ahmad Dimyati ).
