Design Concept no.2 The Floating Hub: A creative and vibrant learning space Imagine the school campus as a “Floating Hub”, with active spaces like lecture halls, class- rooms and study area being elevated and overlooking the public plaza. These activity pods will activate the building façade and also interact with the plaza underneath. One can nav- igate between these floating pods through elevated gardens and walkways, thus further enhance the vertical connections and create more outdoor activity spaces. The design also introduces the idea of “Boulevard”, which acts as both the main circulation spine and also the common ground where different acitivities could take place. Here, the students can play, study, exchange or perform, turning the boulevard into a vibrant plat- form that is accessible all year round with different events and happenings. It also acts as a transitional space between the static and active programmes. The proposal aims to create a well-integrated campus by creating much break-out spaces between programmes and by locating large event spaces at different floors. The design also introduce a variety of public spaces, ranging from small study pods to large play- ground at rooftop, to serve different groups of students. We believe that this school campus will be able to provide a vibrant and dynamic learning environment that can stimulate creativity and also facilitate the exchange of ideas. It is en- visaged that this learning hub will establish a new dialogue and offer a brand new learning experience.
