The Department of Psychology was started in
1957 in the University College Campus at Palayam.
The department was shifted to Kariavattom in 1968
and is the pioneering Psychology Department in the
State. The department has so far produced about 125
Ph.Ds. Over 200 scientific papers have been
published in standard journals. About 200
Psychological Tests have been in developed and
standardized in the Department. The faculty
members in the Department have authored some
books both academic and popular. The faculties write
in popular periodicals and participate in media
discussions and enlightenment programmes as part
of extension works.
The Department has a Testing and
Counselling Centre catering to the needs of the
academic community and the society. In addition, a
Learning Disability Clinic is functioning in the
Department which offers free service to School
children having learning problems and their parents.
The Department has a well-equipped Laboratory and
Library for the benefit of the students.
