1. Students demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the target language, understand the linguistic system of the target language, and understand the differences between the target language and other languages.

2. Students understand the relationship between language and culture, and can integrate cultural and cross-disciplinary perspectives into teaching.

3. Students demonstrate an understanding of language acquisition at various developmental levels and can adjust instruction accordingly.

4. Students demonstrate an understanding of the Standards for Foreign Language Learning and use those to inform their teaching
