Custom Programming If you have custom programs or reports that use the Acumen API, then before you upgrade:

Review all existing custom report work prior to your intended go-live date.

Pay particular attention to any Acumen API changes that may impact your custom work.

When upgrading, Deltek strongly recommends that you first deploy an instance of Acumen to test your customizations (if any) prior to moving into production.

Compare Two Or More Scenarios Using Risk Driver Analysis The new Risk Driver Comparison view displays several cost / schedule risk driver result sets on the same chart. This allows you to compare risk driver results and analyze risk mitigation benefits.

Each result set is summed either by activity or by risk. You can use the Activities or Risk Events menu options to specify how the result sets are summed. In addition, you can use the Copy to Clipboard feature to copy the graph or table and paste them into another application, such as MS Excel.

Use Mitigation Steps to Compare Scenarios Risk mitigation allows you to reduce or eliminate the risks associated with a project.

Before making any changes to a project, you may want to assess if mitigation will reduce project risk and if the improvement will be worth the investment.

For example, if you spend $1,000,000 to move a risk from Very High to High but it only saves you a few days, you may decide that it is not worth it. On the other hand, if you can spend $10,000 and save three weeks, it may be a worthwhile investment.

The new Risk Register mitigation steps allow you to set up and run risk analysis that compares different mitigation scenarios to see the impact on the project.

In the example below, risk analysis with mitigation has been performed three times, once with all three mitigation steps, once with the first two, and once with only the first step selected. The Risk Exposure chart displays the results of the three scenarios.

Display Duration Risk Output in Hours The Risk Drivers and Risk Driver Comparison reports display duration in days by default; however, you now have the option to display the duration in hours and vice versa by changing the display settings on the S1 // Projects tab (Activities menu » Activity View » Display Settings » Duration Time Unit).

Context-Sensitive Online Help Acumen now includes online help that is context-sensitive to the tab and dialog box level. Click the help icon in the corner of the Acumen window to display the help page for the current tab, or click the help icon in the corner of a dialog box to display the help page for the dialog box.

RiskBook Is Now Kona Risk RiskBook has been renamed to Kona Risk.

Schedule/Cost Activity Overlay Tooltip The S3 // Risk tab Activity Schedule Overlay column now displays additional tooltip information when you hover over a cell.

If you overlay with an activity, the tooltip displays the cost estimate ID and description, the overlaid activity ID and description, and the project to which the activity is associated.

If you overlay with a WBS, the tooltip displays the cost estimate ID and description, the overlaid WBS ID and description, and the project to which the WBS is associated.

If you overlay with a project or scenario, the tooltip displays the cost estimate ID and description and the project ID and description.

Risk Register Import Enhanced

Maintain Existing Risk Events Duration and Cost When you import a risk register from Kona Risk, it maintains existing risk event mitigation duration and cost data.

Mitigation Steps Combined Risk Register risk events can have multiple mitigation steps. When you import such a risk register back into Acumen from Kona Risk, the mitigation steps are combined into a single step on the Risk Register Mitigation Steps tab. The mitigation step Duration and Cost fields display the sum total of all of the original individual steps.

New Risk Events Maintained in the Risk Register When you add new risks in Acumen after you have exported the risk register to Kona Risk, and you then import that risk register back into Acumen, the new risks are maintained in the risk register.

Grouping by Fields Enhanced on the S2 // Diagnostics Tab Grouping by fields on the S2 // Diagnostics tab includes a number of enhancements:

The available fields in the Fields » Selected Field drop-down menu in the Ribbons menu group are now grouped into three sub-menus: General, Inputs, and Outputs.

Interval size is now automatically set based on the number of ribbons you select in the Number of Intervals field.

If the selected field is a string, the activities are distributed as evenly as possible across the ribbons.

If the selected field is a date, the minimum and maximum values define the range and the dates are rounded to the nearest enclosing day, month, or year.

If the selected field is a number, the minimum and maximum values define the range and the numbers are grouped to the nearest round numbers.

For example, if the numbers are in the range from 0 to 99 and the number of ribbons is four, the ribbons will be called >= 0, > =25, >= 50 and >= 75. If the number of ribbons is five, the ribbons will be >= 0, >= 20, >= 40, >= 60, and >= 80

The default fields grouping type for new workbooks is now Number of Intervals:7.

After grouping your ribbons, you can double-click on a ribbon to drill-down or click on Properties to view name and value information. Click the Home button to return to the top-level view.

Ribbons Enhanced on the S2 // Diagnostics Tab When you have many values or ranges, the ribbon now lists them with a >= sign instead of a range.

Reorder Metrics in the Ribbon and Phase Analyzer On the S2 // Diagnostics tab, you can now drag and drop (reorder) the ribbon and phase analyzer metrics. Click on a metric and drag left/right (Ribbon Analyzer) or up/down (Phase Analyzer) to reorder.

Export User-Defined Fields to MSP and Primavera P6 When you export an Acumen project as a Microsoft Project XML file or an Oracle Primavera P6 XER file, any existing user-defined fields are now included in the export and are available for use in MSP and Primavera respectively.

Primavera P6 Project Selection Dialog Box Includes a Flat View When you import a project from Primavera P6 Web Services, you can now browse through the projects on the Project Selection dialog box using a new Flat view or the existing view which is now called Enterprise Project Structure (EPS).

The Flat View tab includes all available project codes and allows you to group and filter. Using this view, you can:

Sort by clicking on a column header.

Drag a column header up to the “group by” bar above to group. If you drag first one and then a second, you can add a sub-level group. For example, if you drag Current Phase and then Business Process up to the “group by” bar, the projects are grouped first by Current Phase and then by Business Process.

Click on a column header to display filter options to filter by specific data. The filter selection displays at the bottom of the dialog box. Remove the filter by clicking the X next to the filter at the bottom of the dialog box.
