1. Résumé and conclusion

The report is about type examination and testing of the non-automatic medical weighing indicator

MV2 manufactured by Cardinal Scale Manufacturing Company, USA.

The MV2 is an electronic indicator with embedded software intended to be used as a module for

non-automatic medical scales. It can be interfaced to a height rod for height measurement and

BMI calculation, but these values are not to be regarded as legal values.

The examined software version is 1-01-03.

The test was performed according to OIML R76:2006, EN 45501:1992/AC:1993 and Welmec

Guide 2.1:2001.

The test items fulfilled OIML R76:2006 – and by that also EN 45501:1992/AC:1993 - for non-

automatic weighing instruments, as described in Annex 1 and 2.

A brief summary of the specifications for the MV2 indicator is as follows:

Accuracy class III and IIII

Weighing range: Single interval

Maximum number of verification

scale intervals (n): 6000 (class III), 1000 (class IIII)

Maximum capacity (Max): n × e

Maximum tare effect: -Max

Fractional factor: pi = 0.5

Minimum verification scale interval(e): 0.83 µV

Excitation voltage: 5 VDC

Circuit for remote sense: No

Minimum load cell input impedance: 87.5 Ohm

Maximum load cell input impedance: 1050 Ohm

Temperature range. +5 °C to +40 °C

Calibration of the electromagnetic field.

Before the test item is placed in the anechoic chamber, an isotropic E-field sensor is placed on the spot where the test item is placed later on. An automatic measurement of the generator output, necessary to establish the specified field strengthreading on the E-field sensor is performed. The data of the corresponding frequency and generator output is stored for use during the exposure. These data are printed out, saved and kept.

The frequency range is scanned at a maximum rate of 0.005 oct./sec. (approx. 1 octave/2 minutes) while the field strengthis maintained using the generator settings achieved during the previous measurement with the E-field sensor installedinstead of the test object.
