Rush Delta Tau Delta

First and foremost, the Epsilon Alpha chapter of Delta Tau Delta would like to commend you on your decision to attend Auburn University. Delta Tau Delta has grown to be a leader on

Auburn’s campus and throughout th Greek community nationally. Our diverse brotherhood shares in our founding principles, following our motto, “Committed to Lives of Excellence.” We strive to maintain a brotherhood composed of the best young men attending Auburn University to continue on what so many men before us have built. Delta Tau Delta truly provides a unique

experience for young men while in school and beyond.

Our new house has become a landmark on Auburn’s campus and for all members of Delta Tau Delta. Delta Tau Delta is constantly looking for and recruiting men whom embody the char-acteristics of upstanding, distinguished, and virtuous gentlemen. We encourage you to come out to events in the spring, summer, and fall to meet some of our members and give us a chance to

meet you.

Delta Tau Delta is able to offer tremendous value in enhancing your collegiate experience and your post graduate career with the philosophy of lifelong learning. We are committed to

developing men of integrity, accountability, and high moral character. Delta Tau Delta provides its members with access to an outstanding network of men whom pride themselves on being

Brotherhood

Brotherhood Sustains Us

When you associate with a fraternity you’re not just meeting new friends or acquiring a place to live and party. It’s much more than that. You’re becoming a part of a brotherhood.

Brotherhood is a unique, private bond based on intangible and invisible principles. Because of this bond, you’ll be making friends which last not a semester, or four years, but for a lifetime.

Being part of a fraternity is incomparable to anything else; it’s brotherhood, pure and simple. It is the common bond, which ties all Delts together.

The friendships you will make as brothers of Delta Tau Delta will last a lifetime. As part of the fraternity, you will have brothers who will be there during any time of need. In order to better foster such strong friendships our brothers attend a Brotherhood retreat. This retreat takes place

during the same weekend as the new members retreat and creates lifelong memories you are bound to reminisce of years down the road.

Our brotherhood consists not only of the friendships you will make, but it also consists of our vast alumni network across the nation because membership in Delta Tau Delta is lifelong.

Webster says Fraternity is “the state of being brothers, a body of men associated for their common interests.” As brothers, we have suffered when one of us has lost loved ones, we have

celebrated each other’s accomplishments, and have been there to support each other. As a family, we have had our disagreements, but as a family, we as brothers come together and move forward.

Involvement

Active involvement is an essential part to becoming a well-rounded Delt. At Delta Tau Delta, we believe in getting involved in various academic, charity, and leadership organizations.

In addition to brothers participating in honor societies in their respective majors, we have broth-ers that are involved with the SGA, UPC, IFC, Honors College, Honors Congress, Freshmen Leadership Program, International Student Organization, American Institute of Architecture

Students, and various other organizations that may or may not be affiliated with the university.

Our fraternity is proud to be part of the JDRF philanthropy in order to help people fight diabetes. This is our national philanthropy and our chapter raises money every year for the cause.

Many brothers also participate in study abroad programs and co-op programs that help them to gain expertise in their respective field while seeing different parts of the world and meet-

ing influential people in their line of work.

Another resource some of our brothers are taking advantage of is undergraduate research. Undergraduate research is a great way to build a resume for graduate school while becoming

closer with professors and making spending money as well. At Delta Tau Delta, we are commit-ted to developing brothers in every aspect of their lives so that they may live lives of excellence.

Social

Delta Tau Delta is a social fraternity. As a social fraternity we will have formals, semi-formals, socials, swaps, band parties, tailgates, and various other social gatherings. This past

spring we had our formal in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, we enjoyed the atmosphere and all the festivities of Bourbon Street including an elegant formal at a premiere Blues bar.

In addition to our formals, we had three different large band parties, and a few smaller single musicians to play for us. Also, we’re planning a variety of socials with other fraternities and

sororities. These socials give us a chance to meet many of Auburn’s outstanding sororities and leaders of our campus.

We are also in the process of booking various bands for the fall, and we’re already looking into some larger band parties for the football season. As a social fraternity, the house is always

open to every brother or potential rushees; there are always brothers and other people spending time at the house.

Pledgeship

Academics

Page 9: Delta Tau Delta - AU Rush Brochure 2013

Pledgeship

In Delt, pledging is an 8 week temporary trial period of membership during which time you will learn more about the history and fundamental principles of the fraternity, as well as how the chapter operates as an organization both at the local and national levels. The pledge period is also a chance to take advantage of all the academic, social, leadership, and service opportunities the chapter has to offer, and to see what Delt can do for you. But most importantly it’s about get-

ting to know the brothers who are part of Epsilon Alpha and people all across campus.

Every Delt will tell you that the semester that they pledged Delta Tau Delta is their favor-ite semester at Auburn. As busy as you will be during pledgeship, academics are placed above all

pledgeship activities and you will not be required to miss classes or study sessions for any activity. New Members this past year participated in several philanthropy events including G-Phi Beats, a lip sync competition put on by Gamma Phi Beta Sorority in which one of our teams placed 3rd.

There will be swaps held throughout the 8 weeks in order for the new members to meet many of the sororities on campus, for instance, we have already planned swaps with Alpha Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, Delta Delta Delta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma for the Fall 2013. Also the new members will have a retreat, and will be welcome to attend all other events such as for-

mals and socials.

Academics

Lifelong learning and growth are vital. For Delta Tau Delta this is more than just a value statement. It is who we are. Academics are our number one priority. Our brothers have consis-

tently outdone their peers in the classroom and are striving to increase our academic success.

The newly initiated class had almost half of its members in the Honors College. Our Aca-demic Chair has also instituted a 2.5 GPA to remain in good standing in the fraternity. We are

looking for new members that we feel will be successful academically, become leaders on campus, and are well rounded.

We have nine required study hours per week as new members, and most if not all of the classes that you will be taken have been previously taken by a brother who will be glad to give

you study tips and advice. Many people come out of pledgeship with some of the best grades they have had thus far at Auburn, which is attributed to the large support net that the brothers at Delta

Tau Delta will provide.

Alumni

Page 11: Delta Tau Delta - AU Rush Brochure 2013

Epsilon Alpha Alumni

Our alumni are outstanding; they contribute so much to Delta Tau Delta both in time and resources. They are among the most involved on Auburn’s campus. We have alumni come out

and tailgate at the house with us on game day and visit us at our new house regularly.

With over 125 active chapters and 120,000 alumni you will have access to Delt broth-ers all over the world who have sworn an oath to give back to those who follow. Nationally, our

fraternity has the most CEO’s in the Forbes 500 list, numerous politicians, movie stars, and sports celebrities.

Our alumni support from our Epsilon Alpha chapter enabled us to move into our new shelter this past fall of 2012. They are constantly looking to make improvements around the

property and currently have some big developments in store for the future. Alumni are a great resource for insight on college and your future after. In a job market that is as tough as todays

you need something to distinguish yourself and sometimes it helps to have the connections. Our alumni are leaders in their respective fields and know the type of men that Delta Tau Delta pro-

duces are intelligent, respectable, trustworthy, and hard-working.

Delta Tau Delta is a fraternity of gentleman which offers you a chance to grow and mature as a man. Delta Tau Delta can offer you lifelong friendships, brotherhood, leadership develop-ment, and community to distinguish yourself among a campus of 20,000 students. If you like

what you’ve seen, heard, and read; if you share our commitment to excellence and values; if you share our academic integrity and leadership qualities, then you should come see what we have to

offer.

chapter adviser letter

Dear Parents,

Now that your son has made possibly the biggest decision of his life to come to Auburn University, it is time for him to make the another important decision: whether to join a college fraternity.

As an Auburn Delt who pledged and graduated at this chapter, it is my privilege to serve it as the chapter advisor. My duty to the chapter also includes communicating with parents and prospective members about the benefits of Greek Life. Delta Tau Delta specifically is more than just a social fraternity, and prides itself in creating men of character by using the foundation of friendship and education to mold the future leaders of our society.

Please feel free to contact me at 334.663.6975 or by email at [email protected] if you would like to discuss any aspect of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

Sincerely,

Kevin M. Perry
