December 2019 PARKS AND RECREATION Monthly Report December 2019 Parks and Recreation: This division includes but is not limited to: All outdoor parks, greenways and all other city and city contracted properties. This division also includes Win- terfest, Beautification and Trees with the primary goal of this di- vision being to provide overall departmental leadership and support plus providing clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing public areas throughout the City. -Ups for the month The best news of the month is when the Pedestrian Bridge on the Middle Creek Greenway Phase III was finally set in place in early December. This project seems to be back on track for completion in early January. Both Ken Reagan-Recreation Maintenance Worker and myself achieved the 40 year mark with the City in late November….. Met with Michael Johnson-Developer of property adjacent to the Town Square. We had a very positive meeting and we feel the Town Square repairs and cleaning will be completed by his an- ticipated opening in January. This effort has been a joint co- operative effort Final details of our Blueway Development meeting for January 24, 2020 was finalized and invitations were sent out to those that need to be involved in this process. Mayor Fox has been working on the appointments to our new Parks and Recreation Services Advisory Board and Founda- tion. These boards will begin meeting in early 2020 planning for our future. Hopefully, a resolve will be found in early January so that this project can get back on track.

-Ups for the month

The best news of the month is when the Pedestrian Bridge on the

Middle Creek Greenway Phase III was finally set in place in

early December. This project seems to be back on track for

completion in early January.

Aquatic Center

Date for Lifeguard certification was announced. We certified (2) two new Lifeguards and Recertified( 2) two

employees for Lifeguards employees work schedules for holiday completed.

Holiday schedules for water exercise was released after Thanksgiving.

Pool Pak was fixed; air temps are much more consistent now.

Fitness Center

Made a change to the January 2020 aerobics schedule,

changed the 5:30 Tue and Thu class to a 45 Total Body

class, will monitor numbers

Hosted our Annual Christmas lunch.

The kids from the After-School Program are loving their

monthly Fitness class!

By the numbers for the month: Class numbers for the month

were: 121 classes offered/1128 visits to Aerobic Classes and

1374 people visited the Fitness Center in November.

Athletics

The following items were accomplished this month by our Athletic Supervisor and Staff:

Athletic Supervisor Attended SMYBA meeting on December 7th.

Athletic Supervisor Met with Pigeon Forge to set dates and rules for joined league in 2020.

Athletic Supervisor organized a Christmas break basketball clinic.

Began registering for coed volleyball league; this will begin in January.

Children’s Program

We have had two successful days of the Flurry of Fun Program. We have three more days scheduled for January 2nd,

3rd and 6th.

Completed a tentative activity schedule for Summer Adventure and Spring Extreme 2020.

Active Afternoons special events for December were: Trivia Competition, Christmas Calendars, Cookie Decorating and

other Christmas games.

Prepared Customer Payment Charts and RecPro for 2020.

Participants Registered for Children’s Programs for the month: 43 (Active Afternoons), 25 (Flurry of Fun).

Volunteer Hours for the month: 45 hours

Bowling

We filled our allotted team entries for the Generation Gap Bowling Tournament.

We had a few out of town groups stop by to bowl over the holidays, but not as many as we have had in the past.

High School bowling regular season wrapped up. Ready for the tournament. We may host the Regionals

By the Numbers for December:

-League Bowling: 429 bowlers with 1287 games bowled.-Open Bowling: 676 bowlers with 1690 games bowled.-City Resident Bowling: 56 Bowlers with 140 games bowled.-Cosmic Bowling:

21 bowlers with 43 games bowled.-Groups: 14 Groups with 294 bowlers and 588 games bowled.-Snack Area: 433 people. -Total: 1909 people.

Civic Center

Civic Center Supervisor and Athletic Supervisor finalized the Spring SMYBA registration set up on Rec-Pro.

Civic Center Attendant, Kevin assembled all 9 new chairs in Council Hall. Kevin also reorganized the Mayor’s room.

Civic Center attendant, Kevin and Rusty our Tradesworker installed new light switches in Council Hall, allowing for the

lights to be turned on at entrance.

Michael from IT updated Supervisor and Coordinator’s computers. Both hard drives were failing; but have been fixed and

working properly.

Mike Torres our FT-Attendant is scheduled to return to work on January 4, 2020 from a long- term sickness, glad to see

Mike back up and doing much better.

Civic Center:

The Civic Center provides 11,000 square feet of multi-

purpose public meeting and rental areas.

The Civic Center offers; Council Hall, Kitchen along

with the LeConte Auditorium.

This facility houses the Administrative Offices for the

Parks and Recreation Department.

Civic Center hosted several Holiday Events this month!
