Christmas special Assembly

“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because

we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding

the meaningless and stressing the true values.” This was rightly said by Thomas S

Monson. Keeping this in mind, our students put up a wonderful Christmas programme

on 23 12-2019 in the Yoga Hall. The tiny tots dressed as cute ‘little Santas’ were a

delight to watch as their swayed rhythmically to some Christmas melodies. The school

choir put up few special Christmas songs and this filled the festive air. We also had

Students of grades 6, 7 and 8 enacting a brief skit on “The Real Message of

Christmas” in which they brought out the significance of a star, angels, hollies,

candycane, candles, gifts and other things associated with Christmas. Principal Madam

addressed the gathering and reiterated the fact that Christmas is all about “caring and

sharing”. Then finally we had Santa wishing the crowd and our dear Head Mistress

madam

Nacharam also spoke about the subject specific teachers who are enlisted to teach the

subjects and also focused on trainings imparted to the teachers of IGCSE curriculum.

Mrs. Krishna Sri (Head Mistress of the Cambridge curriculum at DPS, Nacharam) kept

the parents engaged through her eloquent speech and discussion to help the parent to

Workshops – Enhance Reading skills

The workshop was quite informative and worth sharing with our colleagues.

An echo workshop on ‘How to Enhance Reading Skills’ in learners was conducted by

Mrs. Krishnasri, HM, IGCSE for all the teachers of IGCSE. She insisted on the

following aspects that has to be made of followed as a routine:

• Reading everyday (For fun and enjoyment)

• The teacher reads aloud to develop the bonding between the learners, teachers and

the books.

• Designated time for reading.

• Book talk and book review

• Report writing

She concluded the echo session by requesting the teachers to inculcate reading habits

in the students and that their WPM need to be noted.

Teachers attended Cambridge workshop @ VIP International school & Ashoka

Hotel

A Teacher Training Workshop on Cambridge Primary Program’ for English, Math and

Science was organized by Hodder Educat ion at Hotel Best Ashoka in association with

Viva Books. Ms. Alka Pandey, Resource person introduced the teachers about the

Cambridge approach stating that Cambridge is a Pathway Program. She discussed

is the classes. She also discussed about AFL- assessment for learning and its key

elements and enquiry based learning.

Field Trips

Wonder Fun Park –Stage 1 to 3

Field trips are fun! You get to put down the books and pencils and drive to a new

location with interesting things to see and experience. But of course, field trips still

provide learning opportunities as kids engage with historic sites or works of art in

person. The things the children have only read about come alive as they are seen, heard,

or even felt during a field trip. The students of Grade 1 to 3 had a visit to Wonder Fun

Park on 20 December ,2019 where they had great fun throughout the day. Children

enjoyed the slides, merry go round and other games to the fullest.

Do Science Museum- Stage 4 to 8

Doing science is carrying out scientific processes, like the scientific method, to add to

science's body of knowledge. Do Science is an outdoor science playground that kindles

an enjoyment of science in children. Students of CAIE had a great time working with

the different models ranging from Echo Tube, metal gong, musical pipes, multiple

reflection, pulleys to chair with nails, Jenga, Chess, gear drive etc. when they visited

the Do Science museum on 20 December,2019 as part of the field trip. The students

had a great learning experience which they will cherished throughout.

Thus it is correctly remarked that “Education is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be

kindled”. With this view in mind at DPS Nacharam , a holistic perspective is given to

education where it seeks to engage students in the teaching/learning process and

encourages personal and collective responsibility. The month of December through its

wide assortment of academic and extra-curricular activities and events fostered an all-

round development in the personality of the students.
