LibraryThis term we will be reading the books nominated forthe Children’s Book Council Awards in the EarlyChildhood category. Our book today is called ‘No!Never!’ by Libby Hathorn and Lisa Hathorn-Jarman.Look at the cover of the book and discuss with agrown-up what you notice and what you think the storymight be about.

Under the title it says ‘A Cautionary Tale’. If someonecautions you, it means they warn or tell you to be careful. Discuss with a grown-upwho you think might need to be careful in the story and why.

Choose an imaginative book you have at home and read it aloud for 20 minutes, toa parent, sibling, pet or toy. Make sure you read with a clear voice, at a pace that isnot too fast, and with expression.

Write down five words that you don’t know the meaning of or that you think arevery interesting. Use a dictionary, google or ask someone to find out the meaningof the words. Write down the words and their meanings in your booklet.

Draw a picture of a character in your book. Write 3 sentences to describe yourcharacter. This could be about how your character looks, feels or acts.

WritingCreate your own word wall by brainstorming words you can include in anadvertisement to engage the audience. For example:Fun, Smart, Number 1, Exclusive. (Worksheet is inyour booklet)(A word wall is a list of words that can displayedaround your room)Watch the advertisement about ‘Coco Pops’.
