Converting LOG201A to web-based frees 3 man-yearsof faculty teaching time
Business Case Conclusions
• Life Cycle Logistics assimilation is less/slower than expected• “Design to value” factor for LOG-206 tough to defend in constrained
DAU budget environment– Contract dollars not available or defensible– Faculty curriculum development hours not available– Option of Service/Agency SMEs not explored fully
• FY 04 LOG faculty workload up 32%• LOG 201A consumes 17% of faculty workload• Converting LOG 201A to web-based delivery yields 3 teaching-
faculty FTEs back to the resource base• Those resources could be used in FY 05 for:
– Expanded curriculum development– Increased teaching of other LOG courses– Increased performance support or rapid deployment training
DAU Recommendation
• Revise LOG 201A to web-based distance learning in FY 04• Incorporate up to 15 hours new sustainment curriculum into
LOG 201A• Incorporate approximately 4-8 hours new sustainment
curriculum into LOG 201B• FY 05 certification standards for Life Cycle Logistics
(Level II) remain:– ACQ 201– LOG 201– LOG 235
• Work with FIPT to scope additional performance outcomes for potential LOG 206 course, pending increased systems sustainment management workforce assimilation
