The Panther Run Giving Tree
The PTA held a Student Coin Drive the week of January 26 – 30. Students were asked to bring in the coins they were collecting in the Piggy Banks that they made for our contest in the Fall. The students brought in a total of $708.79 during the week. There was a competition among the grades, with the winning grade winning a SILLY STRING Party* – a chance to 'string' Principal Saef, Assistant Principal Chacona, Ms. Filo, Mr. Jasso and Mrs. Garcia. Our FIRST GRADE won with a total of $233.52 and the 5th grade came in a close second with $212.50. The contest was a lot of fun and brought out the competitive spirit in the students, but it also reinforced the school's 'Pay It Forward' and 'Who I Am Makes a Difference' mission.
The PTA just wrapped up our FINAL MAJOR FUND DRIVE for this school year. If you missed our Giving Tree fund drive, but would still like to contribute, send your donation in with your child at any time!
The net profit for the 2014-2015 Giving Tree Fundraiser is $4699.05.
The PTA would like to thank you for your support!

ACE’s Top 10 Reasons Children Should Exercise
1. Kids who exercise are more likely to keep exercising as an adult.
2. Exercise helps kids achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
3. Regular physical activity helps build and maintain strong, healthy muscles, bones and joints.
4. Exercise aids in the development of important interpersonal skills—this is especially true for participation in team sports.
5. Exercise improves the quantity and quality of sleep.
6. Research shows that exercise promotes improved school attendance and enhances academic performance.
7. Kids who exercise have greater self-esteem and better self-images.
8. Participating in regular physical activity prevents or delays the development of many chronic diseases (e.g., heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension) and promotes health.
9. Children who are active report fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression and a better overall mood.
10. Exercise helps improve motor coordination and enhances the development of various motor performance skills.

2014-2015 PTA Board Members
PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation; we can proudly make this claim because of the thousands of members worldwide.
Any organization is only as strong as its individual links. Without your membership, PTA would not be the
driving force for today's children.
It may seem like such a small gesture: I
joined my child's PTA, but it has such large implications. National PTA, with its state and local unit members, has
established programs and called for
legislation, which has improved our
children's lives, such as: the creation of Kindergarten classes, child labor laws,
hot and healthy lunch programs, mandatory immunization, and arts in education.
All this was done by people willing to
become a member of
PTA. Membership does matter!
So when someone walks up and asks
you to join the PTA, just do it!
