Example-6.1

Find the maximum horizontal stress in the plate for the figure given below.

Made of structural steel. Plate is having a square cross-section of size 0.1 m and

thickness 0.001 m. Force acting on the right face of plate is of magnitude 1000

N left face is fixed. Hole is at center having radius of 0.005 m.

Example-6.2

The filleted bar, made of structural steel, has dimensions as shown in figure. The

bar is subjected to tension of 50 KN Find the maximum displacement and the

maximum normal stress in the horizontal direction.

Consider a cantilever beam of aluminum alloy with E = 71 GPa, Poisson's ratio = 0.33. Its length is 4 m and has cross section of 0.346 m x 0.346 m.

A wing with an airfoil section is supported such that one end is fixed and the other end is free. The wing has a chord of 1 meter, a span of 5 meters, and a thickness of 0.01 meters. The wing is Aluminum 6061-T6. Find the first 6 modes of vibration of the airfoil using ANSYS Workbench.
