Materials: Cup or mason jar, paper, pencil, pen, or markers, paints (optional) Step by Step Description of Activity: Youth can take some paint or other colors to decorate their cup/jar. Then youth will take some time to think about what they are thankful for, especially during this quarantine. After the youth will write or draw some of the things that they are thankful for. Once the youth is done they can put their papers in their jar. Youth can continue to add as many things as they want. They can also look back at their papers when they need a pick me up. 5 Key Elements: Fun: Youth get to be creative with the things that they are thankful for. Safe & Positive Environment: All materials should be nontoxic and safe for the youth to work on their own, if using a mason jar an adult should be helping the youth. Supportive Relationships: Friends and family can help youth come up with more things that they are thankful for. Opportunities & Expectations: Youth get a chance to express their gratitude, even if they don’t always show it. Recognition: Adults can display their youth’s Thankful Jar somewhere meaningful to the youth

Program Name: Thankful Jars

Objective: To have the youth thinking about what they are thankful or grateful for.

Step by Step Description of Activity:

Youth can take some paint or other colors to decorate their cup/jar. Then youth will take some time to think about what they are thankful for, especially during this quarantine.
