Dear Friends,

The end of the Easter season will come this month as we cele-brate Ascension Thursday on the 9th of May and then Day of Pen-tecost on May 19th – Whitsunday – the birthday of the Church. We don’t seem to celebrate Pentecost as we used to; after all it isa very important day in the Christian calendar. From Luke’s ac-count of that first Pentecost (Acts 2) it was an earth shatteringday for the disciples; a great wind; flames of fire resting on eachone; wild and untamable forces. It must have been both terrify-ing and exhilarating at the same time. Of course we can’t reallyknow what it was like in that room, but whatever this “something”was, it transformed a small group of frightened, puzzled andmostly uneducated men and women into a force to be reckonedwith right across the known world.

Have you ever experienced that feeling when you want to shoutfrom the rooftops “Jesus loves us”? That’s the Holy Spirit lettingyou know He’s about. To some He comes quietly and unan-nounced, transforming lives without any fuss. Jesus always deliv-ers on His promises.God didn’t send the Holy Spirit just on that first Pentecost as aone off – His Holy Spirit is amongst now, every day, waiting, watching. But (there’s always a “but”), be prepared for anythingbecause there’s no telling what the Spirit may do. There’s nogood fighting against the Spirit either – believe me I know! TheHoly Spirit gifted to the disciples on that first Pentecost – giftedto us every day of our lives – accept the gift and let Him work inyou.Join the celebration; we have a great deal to rejoice Alleluia!

With love and every blessing to you and yours

Kathleen
