Dear Friends,

Well the long awaited day arrived and it didn’t disappoint. TheService of Thanksgiving for the reordering and restoration of StPeter’s was very good! It was a joy for me to see the workfinished and a joy for us all to come together in thanksgiving andcelebration.

For those who weren’t able to join us, let me tell you a little bitabout the afternoon. The church was full with friends andcolleagues, acquaintances and strangers. It was a pleasure towelcome the Honourable Dame Shân Legge-Bourke, the Lord-Lieutenant for Powys, and to thank her for her continued supportof St Peter’s and the town. It was also good to welcome BishopAndy, Dean Kathy, Archdeacon Andrew and Archdeacon Paul andto thank them also for their support to us as a Church and theMinistry Area as a whole.During the service gifts from parishioners were blessed anddedicated by Bishop Andy;a beautiful Altar frontal depicting God’s creation made by MrsAlice Hughes; three kneelers made by Mothers’ Union memberscommemorating the 140th anniversary of the Mothers’ Union andthe 90th birthday of their patron, Her Majesty, the Queen; aradio mic in memory of Mr Bert Fearn donated by Mr ElfynRowlands and a Gospel Book for use at the Holy Eucharist inmemory of Mr Grahame Cox.Bishop Andy also received the Reverend Tony Hodge into thecommunion of the Church of Wales. There’s a saying that strangers are simply friends you have yet tomeet and I think that was certainly the case after the service aspeople all joined together in the new facilities to enjoy theafternoon tea supplied and prepared by the ladies of St Peter’s.I am pleased to say that the new facilities are being used bydifferent groups in the community and we welcome them all. Many thanks to all who took part in the service from all thechurches in the Ministry Area.

We will continue to give thanks to God for His grace that hasenabled us to do all this work and we can allow ourselves a littletime to sit back, take a breath and admire. But we must notforget that this work hasn’t been done for our convenience –although it is very nice to have toilets in a warm church – all thishas been done to further God’s work in this community and togive glory and praise to God. And so, we move forward as friendsand colleagues, acquaintances and friends we are yet to meet, with renewed hope and confidence in the love and generosity ofGod through Jesus Christ.Thank you to all who have helped in any way to make thishappen and who will continue to make things happen in the DyfiValley to the glory of God.

With every blessing to you and yours

Kathleen

Learning to walk with God in prayer.

He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, oneof his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John

taught his disciples.” Lk ch 11v1.This is a short course of four weeks on learning to pray. Over foursessions of 1.30 hours you will experience, four different ways topray. This will be a chance to stop and be still with God, a time

reflect on scripture with your heart, a time to use our imaginationin prayer and a time to reflect on your journey with God each day.

No experience necessary. If you want to learn more or book a place please contact Fr

Llanstumdwy (5 miles)Saturday 8th October.

Catching the 08:52 train to Cricceth we will walk part of thecoastal path towards Pwllheli. Turning inland to Llanstumdwy wewill have a chance to visit the Lloyd George Museum beforecontinuing our walk past his memorial and returning to Criccethvia an alternative route. Please bring packed lunch. If time allowswe will take refreshments in Cricceth before returning home.

Due to a fire on Barmouth Bridge we postponed the intendedwalk until this month, and although forced on us, the walk alongthe Mawddach Trail didn't disappoint. At this time of year in earlyAutumn the colours are starting turn from different shades ofgreen, to shades of Brown and Red. The trail itself follows theEstuary along the old rail track, again affording great views outinto the Estuary.
