SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Graduate Intern & Events LaunchPad Ambassadors

JOB PURPOSE:To assist the Employer Engagement Partner in delivering a professional and customer focused recruitment, on-boarding and resourcing service to employers in relation to the Student Internship Programme and in relation to any graduate recruitment projects. Generate employer leads to support the Employer Engagement Strategy and maximise the use of social media to ensure we attract the best candidates for employer in support of the University’s Strategy ‘Clear About Career’.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Deliver a high quality attraction, resourcing and on-boarding service, specifically focused on student internships. Identify new and innovative approaches that meet the individual needs of employers and ensure we attract and recruit the best candidates.

2. To lead on the design and implementation of a graduate programme which meets the needs of local employers, in particular SMEs, including induction and training. Provide guidance to employers relating to the job descriptions and ensure we attract and recruit the best students. Support employer to ensure compliance with the Disability Confident Employer framework in relation to recruitment activity.

3. Process the paperwork associated with contractual arrangements relating to the Student Internship Programme, such as letters of appointment and appropriate pre-employment checks, including pre-employment health questionnaire and right to work in the UK checks. Liaise with the Resourcing and Onboarding team to ensure paperwork is sufficient to meet regulations.

4. Carry out onboarding and induction with the students undertaking the Student Internship Programme, ensuring they understand their responsibilities while on the internship. Be a liaison between the employer and the intern during the internship.

5. To continue to enhance and develop our careers platform: LaunchPad Online, including the promotion of vacancies through social media, employer events and student interactions.

6. Lead on the development of an online recruitment system for Student Internships to ensure it is user-friendly and fit for the employer’s needs, liaising with Human Resources as necessary.

7. Ensure all activities are compliant with legislative requirements and external regulatory bodies, in particular relating to international recruitment and UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI).

8. Support the Employer Engagement Partner to undertake targeted outreach to proactively engage employers, in Yorkshire and regionally, with a range of events, services and activities.

9. Support the Employer Engagement Partner to develop innovative practices to engage employers who have not previously engaged with the university for a Careers, Placements and Student Opportunities perspective and raise awareness of our student and graduate talent pool.

10. Manage the University’s on-line and social media presence as it relates to student opportunities to ensure maximum impact and coverage. Ensure the website is engaging and appropriately targeted to ensure we attract candidates from diverse backgrounds.

11. Work collaboratively with the Careers Advisors to ensure that opportunities are promoted within curriculum development sessions and extra-curricular sessions also.

12. To take the lead on marketing employer related events, fairs and workshops to students to ensure maximum engagement from students.

13. Lead on the promotion of employer related events to ensure maximum engagement from employers e.g. Internship Launch, Employer Networking events.

14. Provide opportunities for celebrating the achievements of our students and graduates including the design and delivery of ways in which projects can be recognised by the University and employers. This may include where necessary an occasional evening event.

15. Work collaboratively with the Alumni team to highlight amazing case studies that can be used to promote the internships scheme and graduate destination.

16. To engage in the wider work of the Careers, Placements and Student Opportunities team. This will include involvement in Open Days and Visit Days on a rota basis, this will involve working occasional Saturdays where necessary.

17. Day to day supervisory responsibilities of the Student Opportunities Graduate Intern.
