Wherever you may be in the world, let us join forces to helpthose in need.

For more than 17 years, Cœur de Gazelles non-profitassociation has been bringing together a team of men andwomen dedicated to providing services and support in theareas of health, the environment, job training andeducation.

We are committed to helping, but not just anyhow.Our actions are on a human scale: Cœur de Gazelles workswith local population to address the source of theirproblems and encourages them to become agents of theirown development.

We are committed to helping, but not just on a one-timebasis. We work on the long term in a spirit of partnership:we do not create alternative structures; we strengthen anddevelop existing local ones.Each project is recognized and approved by the Moroccangovernment, giving legitimacy to our actions.

Our cross-border efforts must remain strong and continueto uphold our values.

COMMITTED TOHELPING

Since its creation in 1990, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles has beendeveloping a new vision for motor sport: no speed, no GPS, just old-school navigation, entirely off road: a return to the roots ofAdventure. To win, teams must drive the shortest possible distance.

Cœur de Gazelles is supported by the logistics andinfrastructure of all Maïenga events: Rallye Aïcha desGazelles, Cap Femina Aventure, Bab El Raid and Gazellesand Men Rally.

œur de Gazelles was created in 2001, during the RallyeAïcha des Gazelles du Maroc.The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles is a one of a kind event.Each year it brings together more than 300 women, ofall ages, nationalities and backgrounds, in the Moroccandesert.

COMMITTED TO HEALINGThe Medical Caravan

through the logistics of the RallyeAïcha des Gazelles, Cœur deorGazelles has organized the largest traveling medical caravan in

southern Morocco, providing access to medical care for thecountry’s most remote communities.

In partnership with the Moroccan Ministry for Health, 50 volunteers offer theirtime and expertise each year in a range of medical specialties: general medicine;paediatrics; gynaecology; dentistry; optics; ophthalmology; pharmacy; andscreening for diabetes, trachoma and cataracts.

80,860 people have received free medical care from the Medical Caravan

since the Caravan’s creation

415 wheelchairs distributed since the Caravan’s creation, including40 in 2018.

121 patients will receive follow-up care throughout the year,including 73 cataract patients, who will receive cataract surgery in2018, and 48 who require further testing.

Support for local infrastructure: funding for the renovation of apaediatric room at the Essaouira hospital (2012) and purchase ofmedical supplies and equipment for the Ouarzazate hospital(2013).

Cœur de Gazelles has been partners withthe Alpes Maritimes League against Cancer(France) since 2012, and pays for cancerpatients to attend more than 170 sessionseach year at the League’s welcome centre,which offers a variety of workshops such asyoga, theatre, gymnastics, modelling...).

CBA Informatique, a companyspecializing in softwaredevelopment for freelance nurses,brought its skills and know-howinto the field to help optimizepatient follow-up.

Every year, we visit schools and villages in southern Morocco to raiseawareness about the environment and to change local attitudestowards the use of the Mika Khala, a black plastic bag that is a heavysource of environmental pollution, banned in Morocco since 2011.

Cœur de Gazelles joins forces with another sports event, the Bab elRaid, to hold a special community action each year: Green Day.

The Green Day project consists of planting date palms in the regionof Merzouga, in order to create the largest community palm grove

Cœur de Gazelles builds wells close to the homes of Nomadfamilies, who have to travel several kilometres to reach the nearestwater source.The wells are dug by hand by local workers, and made safe forchildren.

The date palms are paid for and planted every year by theparticipants of the Bab el Raid during the event, in collaborationwith local farmers.At the same time, an irrigation canal is currently being renovated.This canal, which is also funded by the participants, will provide aneffective means of transporting water to the palm grove.

COMMITTED TO JOB TRAINING

The importance of gaining their autonomy led the women ofthe village of Tamsguidat to ask for French and Arabic classes.

The Tamsguidat school was built in 2010 to educate thevillage children, but it also benefits their mothers. Adultliteracy classes began in 2012, for 18 hours per week.

The teacher’s salary is paid by our project sponsor, theDiana Holding Foundation.

A community child care centre, called the Crèche des Petits Marins,opened its doors right on the premises of the temporaryemployment agency.The centre provides day care for children, ensuring that they receivea basic education and a balanced meal created by a dietician, andthat their medical services and prescriptions are paid for.The centre is in high demand but only 2 workers have been hired todate.

The centre offers several types of activities: basic child development activities, preschool activities, organized outings, workshops to strengthen the parent-child bond, nap support...

30 children currently attend the day-care centre,free of charge.

Cœur de Gazelles works with another rally raid, the Cap FéminaAventure, which is also very “hands-on” when it comes tocommunity projects.

Every year, the event’s participants roll up their sleeves andrenovate a village school.This initiative improves the learning conditions for the children, whoget to choose the paint colours themselves!

Cœur de Gazelles visits Moroccan communities with its Medical Caravan, butits actions don’t stop there.

A truck filled with donations, collected each year by the participants of theRallye Aïcha des Gazelles, accompanies the caravan to meet the needs oflocal families.

Because we are always looking for more ways to help,in 2012 Cœur de Gazelles joined forces with Restos BBdu Cœur, which helps 30,000 children in France eachyear.

We use an “intelligent donation” approach to provide donations tailored to meet each individual’s needs.

More and more families are having trouble affording baby supplies andequipment: that is why the participants of the Cap Fémina Aventure arecoming together to help them.

Donations are collected at the start of the event, and are then distributed byRestos BB du Cœur to families in need across the department of Gard insouthern France.

With the support of

Our partner Maghreb Solutions collectedand sorted these donations at the RallyeStart Village and transported them toMorocco, where the volunteers of Cœur deGazelles took over.

Hundreds of kilograms of children’s and adults’ clothing and shoes, toys,school supplies, medical supplies and more... The donations are many andvaried and meet specific needs.
