The REYNA & SAB Oil Company from Mkotokuyana has been given a license by Tanzania Petroleum

development cooperation to explore and extract hydrocarbon in MKOMA onshore block 3. In order to complete

their mission in time with reasonable cost they employed group 07 member of petroleum geoscientist of third

year at Mineral resource institute for planning and scheduling the project.

The project involves the certain activities which are as it explained in the table below

Activity Duration

1 Geochemistry method 5

2 Seismic method 2

3 Magnetic and gravity method 3

4 Geochemistry data analysis 2

5 Seismic data analysis 2

6 Gravity and magnetic data analysis 3

7 Drilling 5

8 Reservoir modelling and estimation 10

SOLUTION FOR THE QUESTION

ASSUMPTION MADE

1. Geochemistry method let it be activity A

2. Seismic activities let it be activity B

3. Magnetic and gravity activities let it be activity C

4. Geochemical data analysis D

5. Gravity data analysis let it be activity E

6. Magnetic and gravity data analysis let it be activity F

7. Drilling let it be activity G

8. Production let it be activity I

(ii) Time for path B,E,G,H = 2+ 2+ 5+ 10 = 19 Days

(iii) Time for path C,F,G,H = 3+3+5+10 = 21 Days ( this is only critical path for the project)

The critical path for the said project is C,F,G,H identified by thick dark arrow with a minimum project duration of

21 days. Generally the table summarize the critical and non –critical activities of the project;

CRITICAL ACTIVITEES FLOAT= LF-EF

NON-CRITICAL ACTIVITIES

C FLOAT =3-3 = 0

A FLOAT = 9-5 =4

F FLOAT = 6-6 = 0
