DashboardThe Dashboard is the first screen you see when you log into the administration area of your blog.

DashboardThe main idea of the dashboard is to give you a placewhere you can get an at-a-glance overview of whatshappening with your blog. You can catch up on news,view your draft posts, see whos linking to you or howpopular your contents been, quickly put out a no-frillspost, or check out and moderate your latest comments.Its like a birds eye view of operations, from which youcan swoop down into the particular details.

The Menu, located next to the WordPress logo on theleft-hand side of your Admin Bar.

ThemesA theme controls the general look and feel of your site including things like page layout, widget locations

font and color choices.

Default ThemeWhen your website is created a random theme will be applied to it.Your website may not look the way you want it. Your site can becustomized by changing the theme.

Change your theme

The dashboard left side menu click Appearance > Themes

The MyIEA101 website uses the Able theme. You can search at the

top of the Themes page.

When you find the theme click theActivate button.

You will then be able to customize your site. Adding a header imageis a nice touch but not necessary.

Customize Your ThemeClick Header and Add new image. The header images are usually a predefined size in pixels. The Able T

suggest 1280x360.

Upload Your Header ImageClick the Select Files button

Select Your ImageNavigate to a folder on your computer where you have a image file and click Open. The file will upload to

Wordpress.com.

Select and CropYour image will be selected with a checkmark. Click the Select and Crop button. If your image was the s

predefined size, you will have the option to skip cropping and publish as is. Otherwise Crop and Publish.

Widgets and SidebarsDifferent themes will have different sidebar options. The Able theme has the option for a Left Sidebar

Sidebar. Widgets can be placed in the sidebars.
