Stop and think a minute about what you want to call your site. You can later change it, or buy your own

domain and point it here.

Fill in the rest of the form, you will need an email address you can check to confirm your new website.

How can it be free?Wordpress.com gives you lots of opportunities to buy things

from them! You can purchase upgrades, but if you are going to do that, (in my opinion) you might as well purchase hosting and

host your own site! (but, not for everyone)

Wordpress.com vs. Self-hosted• Wordpress.com basic site is

FREE, you can move it later.• Great for beginners, or if

you don’t want to sell anything.

• Built-in community of bloggers.

• You can’t have a buy button, only donate.

• You can’t add plugins• They take care of backups

and hackers.

• You purchase hosting (inexpensive and you can create many sites with one account.)

• Requires a bit more maintenance, necessary if you want to sell things.

• You can have whatever you want.

• You can add plugins• You backup your site, and

will have to fix it if it gets hacked.

You will need an email address to confirm your new account. If you don’t have one you wish to use for this,

create a new yahoo.com or gmail.com account

You are the proud owner of a new website/blog! Activate it now.

Now the next hardest part after picking your domain – a theme! Don’t worry though, you can change it later.
