1. General 1.1 Note on conformityTheproductwassubjecttoaconformityac-ceptanceprocessundertheEuropeanUnionguidelinescoveringthesetypesofdeviceandconformswiththeessentialrequirementsoftheseregulations.

ComplieswithFDAperformancestandardsforlaserproductsexceptfordeviationspursuanttoLaserNoticeNo.50,date(June,2007).

ETL approvalThisClassAdigitalapparatuscomplieswithCanadianICES-003.ThisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforaclassAdigitaldevice,pursuanttoPart15oftheFCCrules.Theselimitsaredesignedtoprovidereasonableprotectionagainstharmfulinterferencewhentheequipmentisoperatedinacommercialenvironment.Thisequipmentgenerates,uses,andcanradiateradiofrequenceenergyand,ifnotinstalledandusedinaccordancewiththeinstructionmanual,maycauseharmfullinterfer-encetoradiocommunications.Operationoftheseequipmentinaresidentialareaislikelytocauseharmfulinterferenceinwhichcasetheuserwillberequiredtocorrecttheinterferenceathisownexpense.

1.2 General Notes•TheInstallationandOperatingInstructions

constitutepartoftheappliance.Theymustbemadeavailabletotheoperator.CorrectobservanceoftheInstallationandOperatingInstructionsisabasicrequirementforusingtheapplianceproperlyandsafely,andnewpersonnelmustbeinstructedaccordingly.TheseInstallationandOperatingInstructionsmustbehandedovertoanysubsequentowneroroperatorofthisappliance.

•Thesafetyoftheoperatorandtrouble-freeoperationoftheappliancecanonlybeensuredwhereoriginalengineeringmanufac-turedpartsareused.Furthermore,onlytheaccessoriesandconsumablesdescribedintheinstallationandoperatinginstructionsorapprovedbyDÜRRMEDICALforusewiththisappliancemaybeused.Ifotheraccessoriesorconsumablesareused,DÜRRMEDICALcanassumenowarrantyforthesafeopera-tionandreliablefunction.Noliabilityonthepartofthemanufacturewillbeacceptedinthecasethatdamagearisesthroughtheuseofnon-approvedaccessories.

•DÜRRMEDICALisresponsiblefortheap-pliancesfromthepointofviewofsafety,reliabilityandfunctiononlywheninstallation,newsettings,modifications,expansionsandrepairsarecarriedoutbyDÜRRMEDICALorbyaservicecentreauthorisedbyDÜRRMEDICAL,andwhentheapplianceisusedandoperatedinaccordancewiththeinstalla-tionandoperatinginstructions.

•TheseInstallationandOperatingInstructionsaccordwiththefeaturesoftheapplianceandthelevelofengineeringatthetimeoffirstintroductionofthemodel.Allcircuits,processes,names,softwareandappliancesquotedareprotectedunderindustrialpropertyrights.

•ThistranslationoftheInstallationandOperat-ingInstructionshasbeencarriedoutingoodfaith.Liabilityforincorrecttranslationwillnotbeaccepted.TheaccompanyingGermanversionoftheseInstallationandOperatingInstructionsaretobeusedasreference;ifyouhaveanydoubtastothecorrectinterpretationoftheinstructions,pleaseconsultyourdealer.

1.3 Disposal of applianceDevice•TheEUguideline2002/96/EC-WEEE

(WasteElectricandElectronicEquipment)of27January2003anditscurrentimplementa-tionintonationallawdeterminesthatproductsaresubjecttotheabove-mentionedguidelineandmustbedisposedofespeciallywithintheEuropeanEconomicArea.Questionsontheproperdisposaloftheproductcanbedi-rectedtoDÜRRMEDICALorthedentaltrade.

1.4 Correct Usage•Theapplianceisintendedexclusivelyforvisual

•CorrectUsageoftheappliancealsoinvolvesobservingtheInstallationandOperatingInstructionsandadheringtothoseinstructionsconcerningset-up,operatingandmainte-nance.

• EveryusagewhichisnotinaccordancewiththeCorrectUsageabovewillleadtotheguaranteesandwarrantiesofDÜRRMEDICALbecomingnullandvoid.

•Theoperatorisliableforanydamagearisingthroughincorrectusage.

•Correctusageincludescompliancewithalllegalprovisionsapplicableattheplaceofusewithregardworkandradiationprotection.

1.5 Incorrect UsageTheapplianceisnotintendedforvisualscan-ningofimageplatesinhumanmedicine.Anyuseoftheapplianceaboveandbeyondthatlaiddownheresconsideredtobeimproperuseoftheequipment.Anyresultingdamagethuscausedisthesoleliabilityoftheuser.Themanufacturercannotbeheldresponsiblefordamagecausedbyimproperuse.

This appliance must not be used in operating theatres or similar types of room, where there is a risk of inflam-mable materials catching fire.

1.6 Using Peripheral Devices•Onlyperipheraldevices(computer,monitor,

printer)maybeconnectedtothisappliancewhichconformtostandardIEC60950-1(EN60950/1).

•Appliancesmayonlybeconnectedtogetherorconnectedtoothersystempartswherethesafetyofpatients,operatorsandalsotheenvi-ronmentisensured.Wheretheabsolutesafetyforoperator,patientorenvironmentisnotapparentthentheoperatorisexpectedtocallonexpertadvice,e.g.fromthemanufactureroranexpert,thatsuchconnectionsaresafebeforeproceeding.

1.7 Using image platesThescannermayonlybeoperatedincom-binationwithcassettesfromDürrNDTorDÜRRMEDICAL.Seealsothesectiononimageplates.

1.8 Use of softwareOnlysoftwarespecificallyapprovedbyDÜRRMEDICAL(e.g.Vet-ExamPlus,Vet-ExamIntra)maybeused.UseofanyothersoftwaremustbeexpresslyapprovedbyDÜRRMEDICAL.

Thefollowingoperatingsystemsaresup-ported-WindowsXPProfessional32-bitfromServicePack3,WindowsVista32-bitHomePremiumorhigherandWindows732-bit/64-bit.

2. Safety 2.1 General notes on safetyTheappliancehasbeendevelopedandde-signedinsuchawaythatdangersareeffectivelyruledoutifoperatedinaccordancewiththein-tendeduse.However,wefeelitisimportanttodescribethefollowingsafetymeasuresinordertoremoveanylikelihoodofdanger.•Whenoperatingthisappliance,alllocaland

nationalrulesandregulationsmustbeob-served!Thisappliancemustnotbeconvertedoralteredinanyway.DÜRRMEDICALcanas-sumenowarrantyorliabilityformodifiedoradaptedappliances.Intheinterestsofsafeusageoftheappliance,bothoperatorandownerareresponsibleforseeingthatallrel-evantregulationsandprovisionsareobserved.

Image plates are toxic: Image plates are therefore to always be used in a light protection cover. If the image plates or parts thereof are swal-lowed, the image plate must be removed immediately.
