PRINCIPLE OF CRYOSURGERY :
Cryosurgery is the controlled destruction of disseased tissue by freezing application. The fibrous structure will remainintact.
Phase 1 : Immediate EffectDuring the immediate effect, the cells are destroyed by :
- Dehydration with a concentration of toxic solutes- Formation of ice crystals at the intra-and extracellular level- Protein denaturation- Direct thermal shock
Phase 2 : Delayed PhaseDuring the delayed phase, cell destruction is due to vascular stasis causing :
- Thrombosis- Ischemia - Devitalization of cells
Phase 3 : Late PhaseA late phase or immunological response induced by freezing may occur (formation of antibodies directed against tumorcells affected).
The absence of scar, good patient tolerance and ease of implementation of cryosurgery through CryOmega ® make itthe convenient method in many situations.
