Dear Parents
Cowra Public School performed
exceptionally well at the Western Region
Swimming Championships last Friday with
6 of our swimmers making it through to
State. Isabella Scammell has made
selection in 4 individual events including
the 100m Free, 50m Free, Breaststroke
and Backstroke. Anja Gower has made
selection into the 50m Breaststroke for the
11 years girls and our wonderful junior girls
relay team consisting of Jada Buchan,
Lucy Scammell, Eliza Mulligan and
Hannah McKay performed brilliantly to
also make selection. We wish all of these
swimmers the very best of luck for Sydney.
Other Cowra Public School swimmers who
performed well on the day included Jake
and Tess Roberts, Joel Edgerton, Maddie
Mulligan, Cailin McKay and Mac Webster.
The support shown by our students to
each swimmer really highlighted the
strong values developed through the
school and I was extremely proud to see
our children perform on the day.
This week we have held the Parent/
Teacher meetings over Wednesday for
Stage 1 and again tonight for Stage 2
and Stage 3. These are valuable
opportunities to meet with the class
teacher and discuss your child. Thank you
to all parents who came along.
Tomorrow the school will be holding the
Year 5/6 Walkathon. The children will walk
approximately 10kms (which is a
considerable distance) to raise funds that
assist the senior excursion to Narrabeen
later in the year. If you have sponsored
your child it is greatly appreciated. The
day will also include activities at the pool
so please ensure your child has the
appropriate clothing and equipment for
the day.
I would now like to emphasise the exciting
school Fete that will be on Friday, 20
March. The night is going to be
spectacular with stalls from several areas
across the Central West, rides ranging

WHAT IS THE P&C?
P&C stands for Parents and Citizens, and Cowra Public School’s
P&C Association meets once a month on Thursday evenings.
The objective of the P&C is to provide parents, carers and con-
cerned citizens an opportunity to discuss aspects of their child’s
education with the school’s Principal and other staff.
P&C’s are often seen by the wider community primarily as fund
raising committees. Whilst there are many activities that the
P&C engage in to raise funds for extras in the schools, our pri-
mary focus is providing parents with an avenue to constructive-
ly discuss any aspects of their child’s schooling with school staff.
The P&C usually meet on the third Thursday of each month.
The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 25
March at 6.00 pm in the school staff room.
